Movie Review: VAI Makes Good!

I've been an admirer of Jose Iturbi for some years now and was happpy when this DVD was released. A compilation of Iturbi's performances on The Bell Telephone Hour over the years, there's a little bit of everything here. In one segment, Iturbi briefly demonstrates the history of the piano. In another, he plays a duet of dances with his equally talented sister, Amparo Iturbi. In one segment he takes on the fierce final movement of the Grieg Piano Concerto in A-minor. He even plays one of his own compositions in the final segment. Video quality varies somewhat from segment to segment, as does audio, but all in all, it's worth it to see Iturbi playing again. What a musician! And thank you, VAI, for making this collection available!
