Movie Review: A slow beginning, but when it picks up you're swept away.
Summary: 4 Stars
I wasn't all that enthusiastic when i put this movie in. And i will admit first off that it does start out a little on the slow side, but once it picks up it is one of the most intense and well-acted movies of the year. It shows the two-sided nature of people in such perfection that you see a lot of yourself. There are scenes where you're yelling at the screen because the actors make you become so involved in their life that you feel present at the party. I honestly don't know how someone could not enjoy this movie. The only way i could imagine that is that they don't get past the slow beginning. This beautiful story of human nature and relationships gone awry is well worth the wait...Movie Review: good movie

A nice movie, not great but certainly watchable.The story is about Sally and Joe's marriage, and whether it can survive. It's apparent from the beginning that whatever they may think, the marriage isn't likely to last. For one thing, Joe isn't really committed--he's distracted by anyone "intoxicating" or new who floats by. And Sally knows she is on shaky ground, an "aging" actress in a town full of young ones.

Yup some people find it boring, but I loved this movie since I watched in the theater.It is an intimate drama that portrays the caotic lives of an actress and an English writter. Roller coaster of emotions during a party makes you understand and know what the characters are all about.
One of the few movies that has an accurate extasy performance, we never know what to expect untill the end.

This movie so reminded me of how messy things get when there are booze and pills. Among other things it perfectly captured what happens to already stroked egos when inhibitions are removed. The last scene showing the morning after- when the main characters affect a sort of reconciliation after being incredibly nasty to each other the night before-is a place I'm glad I'm don't go to anymore.Movie Review: Happy Anniversary and many more...

Interesting, differnt yet honest look inside a marriage of 6 years. This is the first time I have seen Alan Cumming play a "normal man" and I was quite impressed. He is such a versatile actor, who thought he could be so convincing as a husband. Also the first time I have seen Phoebe Cates in an adult role. She is v. good also.
