The boxed set of The Animation Show is a very elegant collection of animations derived from all sorts of methods used.There are some animations that are literally breath-taking by the use of hours taken into making every detail,and there's some on here that make good stories and quite humorous.And then there's a couple of the cartoons which are just pointless,they are just boring.This collection fondly reminds me of the popular show in the early 90's called 'Liquid Television' which went along the same path of all sorts of wacky and creative animation shorts(whatever the reason is that MTV cancelled that show is beyond me).You'll also find some shorts made by none other than Mike Judge,which are worth checking out:)

Renowned animators Mike Judge and Don Hertzfeldt present, The Animation Show, showcasing some of the world's best short films. This 2-disc DVD set features 20 celebrated animated short films personally selected by Judge, himself an animation festival veteran, and Academy Award nominated* animator Hertzfeldt. Included in the collection are Academy Award nominees "The Cathedral", "The Rocks" and "Mt. Head", as well as Mike Judge's own "Early Pencil Tests and Other Experiments." * 2001 Animated Short Film Academy Award for "Rejected"Compiled by Mike Judge (Beavis and Butt-head) and Don Hertzfeldt (Rejected), The Animation Show brought short films back to the big screen. Once upon a time, that's how the public got to experience them. Now, they're relegated to film fests, public television, and the internet. It's better than nothing, of course, but they used to be treated like "real movies." For those who missed these works in theaters--or to preserve the experience for posterity--this collection presents most of the first two programs (Vol. 3 is on the way). The lineup includes five Academy Award nominees, Mt. Head, The Cathedral, Fifty Percent Grey, Guard Dog, and When the Day Breaks. A diverse array of nationalities and techniques are on display.
