I yield to no one in my love for this film (even though I grew up in San Antonio and know how questionable the history is), but why hasn't the studio released the original, uncut version, which ran some 40 minutes longer than this one? The Alamo is one of my personal favorates. I am always interested in movies with a historical background and the Alamo is one of the best I've seen. John Wayne, Richard Widmark, Richard Boone and Laurence Harvey are just outstanding in their respective roles.

Great DVD release in the UK. Superb picture quality. A big big shame that the missing 30 minutes has been left off! Why? I'll still have to keep my VHS copy for a while longer yet. The film slightly suffers because of this shortened length.Movie Review: Greatness.
