Movie Reviews of The 40 Year-Old Virgin (Unrated 2-Disc Double Your Pleasure Edition)

Movie Review: Love this movie!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I love this movie! It was one of the funniest movies I've seen. All the actors did a great job. Some of the people who have reviewed this movie on Amazon are way too uptight. If you didn't enjoy it, you had the option of not watching it! No one put a gun to your head and forced you to sit through it, sheesh! Anyway, as I said, I thought it was way funny!

Movie Review: Great Fun!!!

I loved this movie the first I saw it.I feel this HD DVD Version is worth the money. The features are incredible you will be completely entertained.I believe the story line is very unusual fact of life in the world we live in.Rent it before you buy it!!! It's So Worth It!!! If you loved this film "Knocked Up" will rock your world on HD DVD.

Movie Review: not your typical movie
Summary: 5 Stars

As a virgin myself, I found the 40-Year Old Virgin absolutely hysterical. This film contains the kind of humor that starts off quite normal and inoffensive, then as the plot rolls along some very adult-like jokes are surprisingly thrown into the mix. Definitely not a movie for children. However, the acting is quite phenomenal, and the story of how a man goes from being single all his life to suddenly finding the right woman was done really well. I also liked the ending a lot and the right song was definitely playing (an old instrumental from the 70's). That was the right song because I can only imagine the moment after losing your virginity, you become temporarily speechless and therefore, a vocal melody wouldn't work. Perfect choice! Great movie overall. Definitely a movie where the humor is more interesting and intelligent compared to all those typical teen movies people keep comparing this movie to.

Movie Review: Overated
Summary: 2 Stars

Why was this so critically acclaimed?!? This is little more than a horny teenager movie with adults playing the roles - minus good T&A - don't let the 'unrated' marking mislead you. The characters are all interesting enough, but this movie is way too long and is plagued by awkward dialogue soaked in gratuitous profanity (Who do they think they are? Richard Pryor? they are not.) Steve Carell's character is so pathetic that you may be able to watch this as you would watch a 2 hr. 13 min. train wreck. However, The 40-Year-Old Virgin is not funny, not mature, not intelligent, and not very interesting.

Movie Review: The Rated Version is Better
Summary: 3 Stars

I have seen both versions of this movie. I strongly feel the rated, version of this movie that went to the studio is a far better movie. This movie tends to drag on, and the scene are often longer than they need to be. This movie is longer than the studio version, and often the jokes drag onto the rythym is thrown off.

Overall still a good, funny movie, of a really nice guy who just happens to be a virgin at the age of 40. I loved this movie brough up many of the issues we all have in dating in the modern world. I would recommend this movie for a more mature audience for the language. This movie is charming, ackward, and shows the good guy gets the girl in the end.

This version of this movie isn't my favorite. Jokes and scenes run on just a little too long. Sometimes there are reasons why scenes are edited out, or scaled back before they are shown in the theatre. I wished that many of the scenes would have been place in the DVD bonus section instead being directly added to this film. The film is still watchable, it just seems slower paced, and not quite as funny as the original.
