Movie Reviews of The 24th DayMovie Review: An intense experience Summary: 5 Stars
I give this film 5 stars, which is unusual. This film has the benefit of having two great actors. The drama actually is 99% filmed in an apartment with the two main actors. I started watching this film and was preparing myself for disappointment. I was pleasantly surprised by the tension and plot line in this movie. I am a movie hound and have wasted a LOT of time watching bad movies. This is NOT one of them. I highly suggest this to anyone who wants to see a good....er, Great gay themed movie. I highly suggest this. I won't give away plot lines, but, this is the best movie starring two actors that I have ever seen. Certainly worth the price of the DVD. See this!!
Movie Review: Best Gay Film I've Seen in a Long Time Summary: 5 Stars
As an above average comsumer of gay films I must say that this movie is one of the best that I have seen. Why? Because it doesn't rely on the tired formula of most gay movies. No coming out struggles, no 'people hate me' attitudes--just a strong story about a married man who gave in to his sexual cravings 5 years ago with another man.
The story isn't about HIV or AIDS, its about responsibility and accountability. This is also a movie that has a surprise ending, so I can't relay too much of the story. Did he become infected from a same-sex one-night stand? Did his wife bring the disease home from her own infedelity? Watch and find out.
Movie Review: "An Engrossing Thriller" Summary: 5 Stars
"The 24th Day" is one of the best independent films ever. Without giving away any of the plot, it is about one's responsibility in this age of AIDS towards oneself and to others while having sex. The movie is based on a stage play, but the film adds moblity to the story. The leads pull off terrific performances as we see who survives this cat and mouse game as one of the characters become the others captive prisoner. James Marsden, as always, is beautiful to look at, but he finally shows the kind of actor he is. You won't get a film showing lots of endless sex scenes between two gay men, but you will get a story that is innovative and suspenseful.
Movie Review: Definitely worth watching Summary: 5 Stars
Got the movie yesterday from Amazon.com and immediately popped it in and watched it. I found the acting to be very believable, almost the entire movie is shot in one location and the actors were very adept in their craft. It puts a realistic perspective on the potential consequences of anonymous sex and the sometimes all to familiar lack of responsibility for one's own actions. I watched this movie twice back to back and found it just as intense both times. I would definitely recommend this film, if for nothing else than to hopefully get people to stop and think a little before heading out for that next "casual fling".
Movie Review: Personal Responsibility Summary: 5 Stars
This movie broke the silence in the homosexual communities around personal responsibility. Who is at fault when someone becomes infected? The one who had unprotected sex with an unknown partner or the unknown partner who is sleeping with everyone carelessly? The acting was great. We felt the pain on both sides of the fence. Do we lash out at the person who infected us or do we accept what part we had in becoming infected? This movie also goes beyond and has us think of love ones who become affected by our decision. I added this movie to my collection. I highly recommend this to others.
