Movie Reviews of Teeth

Movie Review: The Worst kinda Fly-Trap
Summary: 4 Stars

A horror/black comedy about .....
well, it's about......um.....this girl
and her bajingo has .....well the title of the movie is "teeth"...
so, uh ya know.
LOL!!
The whimsical story strolls along at a casual pace,
the gore scenes are few & far between,
but the occasional awkward laugh more than makes up for that.
(I mean how many mutilated johnson's would you want to see anyhow?)
The musical scores are excellent,
something that seemed odd for this kind of flick.
and the characters were all amazingly exaggerated
(every guy in this flick is a total slime-ball)

The story takes place in middle-class suburbia,
with 2 nuclear power plants looming in the background.
The main character is a virgin, who's a member of a high-school abstinence (sp?) club,
who finds her hormones racing, and her... ya know.... clamping down on any...ya knows.... that might try to invade her innocence.
To sum up:
Sometimes funny, sometimes gorey,
whimsical black-comedy/horror flick about the dangers of men,
and the perfect means to eliminate rape, & slime-balls altogether.

MORAL OF THE STORY:
Safe-sex means condoms made of steel.

Movie Review: Well worth the Buzz and Well worth Viewing
Summary: 4 Stars

There are two major things that I love about this movie.... no, wait.... make that three major things- (1) it doesn't take itself too seriously, (2) all the violence against men that's shown on-screen is all portrayed as retaliation against the violence done against the female protagonist, (3) and finally, Jess Weixler whose portrayal of Dawn is what drives this film.

After watching many horror movies and wondering why the hell women are continually portrayed as helpless, stupid victims, I was truly excited to watch Teeth. It comes across as a mixture of both 2006's "Slither" and last year's "Sweeney Todd". It's both gruesome and hilarious. And I, personally, think that has a lot to do with the casting. Jess Weixler as Dawn is the driving force behind this movie. Just watch the movie and you'll see.

Overall, I'd say this is a great date movie. Girls- you get to identify with the victim/villian and generally root for her. And guys, you'll end up looking all the better in your date's eyes because you sat through all that violence that will make you squirm.

Movie Review: OOH, I wish I had that power!
Summary: 4 Stars

I have been hearing so much about this wild, cult-like film for a while. My Amazon buddies Blackshere, Puzzlebox, Jenny and Tantrum raved about it and enticed me to watch it. Wow, I'm glad they did!

I wouldn't call this a horror film (except if you're a guy) but a kind of weird comedy with a twist.

What a concept---a girl that has teeth down below! Dawn, a prim virgin high school girl, knows she is different, because she has vagina dentata. At first she doesn't know how to control it, but she soon perfects her wonderful gift. Dawn then uses her magic powers to hurt the men who hurt her. This gets good!

I know a lot of us women would like this power!

This movie was fairly well filmed and never got boring. There were a few good comic scenes---like what a Rotweiller won't eat and a real dirty old man.

All in all it's a fun film to watch. Grab some popcorn, no hot dogs this time!

Movie Review: Demented, destructive fun.

In the words of one NYTimes.com reader, writing in response to that august news outlet's review of "TEETH," "if this be the work of Satan, Hail Satan."

I have to agree. Shame on the cowardly distributers who shot themselves in the foot and passed on this indie gem in favor of yet more "torture porn" (which must the surest sign of creative exhaustion in the horror genre I've yet seen - that and the endless remakes of cinematic ghost stories from Asia). "Teeth" deserved a much wider opening release than it got.

Fear not! Writer/director Mitchell Lichtenstein has the cure for what ails ya,' giving us both a reversal on the usual situation (young girl runs from stalker) and deftly combining the what is usually little more than a pursuit plot, wtih a coming of age story.

May this film have a long and profitable run on DVD and what's left of the revival house circuit in our country! Cheers!

Movie Review: Great, but not for the faint of heart!
Summary: 4 Stars

I had the good luck to see a preview of this movie via a friend of mine who knew that I wanted to see it. The movie is ultimately about a living example of the dentata myth. The main character Dawn is a squeaky-clean teenager who takes part in a local chastity group, & as such doesn't discover what makes her "special" until she's attacked. While there are some parts to it that could have been fleshed out (no pun intended), it's ultimately a highly enjoyable horror flick.

Would I recommend this to a friend? Only if that person isn't squeamish. Not only is there a huge amount of blood, but the subject matter (male genitalia being bitten off) would make anyone wince. I highly suggest that if you are purchasing this for someone else that you first rent the movie to ensure that they like it. It's a great film, but it's not for everyone.
