Movie Reviews of Tarzan IIMovie Review: Babysitting Bliss. And it's really cute Summary: 5 Stars
As a babysitter, I have to say, this movie does the trick. I was watching two of the most energetic, smart, bratty (yet somehow still adorable) little kids in the world. They were beginning to drive me crazy, and I had to cook them food. Their mom had left Tarzan Two for them, and I put it in and BAMMMMM silence in the house. Except for laughing. Over dinner, I asked them what they thought of the movie, and they said, in a nutshell, they liked it because it was funny, and they thought Tarzan, Terk, and Tantor were funny. hahaha. After dinner they wanted to watch it again. This time I sat down with them, and on top of being cute, it's a really good film for children. It stars characters that are young, so the target audience can relate, and they're doing heroic and brave things, encouraging kids to get up and move! Another thing I liked, is they also are very respectful to adults!!! Too many movies today glorify kids who are rude to their teachers or parents, and portray adults as idiots and villains.
The casting was very well done, too! Glenn Close stayed on board, YAY cus I think she has the perfect mama voice! And props to little Terk (Brenda Grate) for immitating Rosie O'Donnell so well. Not an easy thing to do! and Tantor is adorable.
It's also nice and short, so littler kids can get through it without a pee break, or fussing.
IN CONCLUSION! I enjoyed this film, so did the little darlings I was watching, and it's a good movie.
Summary of Tarzan IIExperience the beginning of the legend with Disney's TARZAN(R) II, a hilarious, all-new, animated motion picture loaded with laughs, irresistible new songs by Phil Collins, and the inspired voice talent of Glenn Close, George Carlin, and Emmy Award winner Brad Garrett. Before he was King of the Jungle, Tarzan was an awkward young kid just trying to fit in. When one of his missteps puts his family in jeopardy, Tarzan decides they would be better off without him. His thrilling new journey brings him face to face with the mysterious Zugor, the most powerful force in the land. Together, Tarzan and Zugor discover that being different is not a weakness and that friends and family are the greatest strength of all. This action-packed adventure is sure to delight the entire family. Get ready to GO APE over Disney's wild, new TARZAN(R) II. TARZANŽ Owned by Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc. and Used by Permission. TARZAN IIŠ Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc. and Disney Enterprises, Inc. All Rights Reserved. Whereas the original Tarzan tells the story of a man raised by gorillas who learns to bring together the human and animal worlds, Tarzan II is a prequel, of sorts, focusing on a chapter from Tarzan?s childhood where he realizes he is not an ape and sets out to discover his true identity. The young misfit runs away from his loving mother, Kala (voiced by Glenn Close), and wanders up the Dark Mountain to come face to face with the monstrous Zugor. But all is not serious in this 72-minute boondoggle; there is Disney?s usual foray into frivolity by way of a few wisecracking sidekicks--a couple of gorilla brothers named Uto and Kago, and their nettlesome Mama Gunda (voiced by Estelle Harris, a laudable choice). Despite the star-studded voice cast, there is a sense of re-tread ground here, and the story (loosely based on Edgar Rice Burroughs? distinctive tale) shows signs of formulaic Disney. Nonetheless, Phil Collins? trio of original songs livens the pace to make the effort a short-lived smile. (Ages 6 to 14) --Lynn Gibson
