Movie Reviews of Tap DogsMovie Review: Celebration Summary: 5 Stars
I have never seen such a phenomenal celebration in the arts of pure masculinity -- the humor, the vulgar, the crude, the disrespect, the bonding, the playful, the show-off, the rhythm.
Movie Review: Dance your feet off! Summary: 4 Stars
This dvd offers an amazing example of a lot of energy and testosterone and wonderful choreography. If you are into dancing with energy and attitude, this dvd is for you. It is funny and imaginative and memorable. If you have a friend with a copy, sit down and review it with them. Then you may want a copy of your own to see and enjoy again and again.
Great dancing and great energy. Good buy!
Movie Review: For Non-traditional tap lovers only... Summary: 3 Stars
Tap dogs is an amazing show, which featurs the best new-age tap there is. No doubt that this is the tap dance at new peaks! If you are, however, an old fashion tap dance lover, then this is not for you. Those who fell in love with tap through the Irish shows (Lord of the Dance, Riverdance etc.) would find this show to be of something incomplete, or missing. Finally: Amazing show for those who like shows for thier extravagance and guiness-records breakings, a "so-so" show for the Irish and Old fashion kind of tap lovers.
Movie Review: Educators Beware Summary: 1 Stars
I bought this DVD from an educators' catalog with the idea of using it as part of my substitute lesson plans if I was out of school. Thankfully, I watched the DVD before showing it to students.
In the first 10 minutes of the DVD, one of the Tap Dogs flips off another member of the ensemble. It is done jokingly, and as an adult I found it somewhat amusing, but as an educator I was dismayed. No way could I show this to my students. I kept watching, to see if I could simply skip that part, but to no avail. A little further in, the members seem to be urinating into buckets. Nothing is shown since it is just a stage gag, and while my students would surely laugh about it, I could only imagine the phone calls to the school after they told their parents.
Nothing in the DVD was overly offensive, crass maybe, but not offensive. But considering I could not use the DVD in the classroom, I was extremely disappointed and finally traded it in at a local used CD store.
If you're looking for a sure fire DVD to show, then I can HIGHLY recommend the STOMP DVDs. Students love them, and they are clean as a whistle.
Movie Review: Oversell Summary: 1 Stars
Wasn't perticularly thrilled. Was expecting more classical tap dancing. I wish the product details had specified that it was more 'New age'. At least I would have known what to expect.
