Movie Reviews of TMNT [Blu-ray]

Movie Review: Buy now (question later)!
Summary: 4 Stars

This movie certainly delivers on all aspects of the TMNT universe, from the old 'toons to the comics that inspired them. It is the one we've been waiting for.

Unfortunately, things like the narrated beginning which over-explains things which should be obvious from the storytelling, and a lack of attention to martial art related details like all the swords resting upside-down in Splinter's study (they made sure to research skateboarding moves!), and various scattered distractions, keep the movie from feeling fully 'finished.'

On the bright side, this movie is the best blu-ray experience my household has had so far. The effects have a beautiful, dark silver kind of color that is a joy to watch.

But, our biggest gripe lies with the special features.
Several deleted scenes are included (which are always the highlight for us when it comes to extras), but every single one of them is narrated by the director who talks over the actors' voices! (Just let the scenes speak for themselves.)

All in all, I'm glad the wait is over and I can now get to watching it over and over again (in blu-ray, dude!).:)

Movie Review: Good Story, Great CGI, Outstanding Visuals
Summary: 4 Stars

A great movie that brings back the turtle nostalgia of the 90's when we were younger. I am no turtle fanatic, just a fan as a kid (and a die hard movie analyst). There is some serious CGI & Visuals in this movie if you know what to look for, some of the best out there. The story is not bad either; I would have liked to see more of Michaelangelo and Donatello. There are some good fighting scenes that are very detailed and visual as well. This movie is very different than the real movies of the 90's. In a way, it is more enjoyable than the real movies, which had a "poor puppetry" feel to them (except the first movie). If you have a top end TV (1080p 120hz +), Blu-Ray Player and good cables, you will enjoy the fine detail that went into this Blu-Ray movie. Otherwise, the regular DVD would probably be just as good.

Movie Review: Good movie, Great Blu-ray disk
Summary: 4 Stars

When TMNT first came to dvd I hated it, I just hadn't watched the most recent TMNT animated series, so in a lot of ways I didn't understand what was going on. Well since I seen this film I went back and watched the series and it makes a lot more things that take place in this series add up. While it's not truly set in the series time line I at least knew more of what was going on. So I decided to buy this movie on blu-ray.
So with the story being abit confusing to those who've not seen anything related to the franchise since the 80's its still a good film with great visuals and a pretty interesting story . blu-ray makes it even better with crisp picture and sound.

Well worth watching .

Movie Review: TMNT Great Animation !
Summary: 4 Stars

Great animation movie, you wont be disappointed. But I just wish that if it become a real movie, with real people, it would be a lot more interesting.

Movie Review: RE-TMNT'ed
Summary: 3 Stars

Superman returned, Batman had begun, and now its time for another classic comic book super hero film franchise to return to the big screen completely redesigned for the year 2007 while retaining much of the wonderful sibling rivalry that filled the original films with much more then just brainless action and kooky one liners. Critics are putting this one down rather harshly and yet films like Happy Feet got showered with golden rains of praise but in the end that golden rain was just piss. Quite frankly critics have lost any and all sensibility when it comes to which films they choose to unilaterally praise or completely trash.

If you visit rottentomatoes.com TMNT is sitting pretty low on the tomatometer. Reviews like that can worry any hardcore turtle fan but allow me to ease your fears. TMNT brings back the look and style from the original Laird/Eastman comics. The CG animation is sparkling marred only by the lackluster design of the human characters April and Casey Jones. The films centerpiece is a brotherly fight in the rain between Leonardo and Raphael. Rain has never looked so good. The film really fails to live up to this highly emotional scene when we finally reach the far more substandard subplot involving immortal statues and ancient monsters from another dimension.

The voice work is standard fair but nothing stands out as terribly as the truly awful Splinter, voiced by a man simply known as Mako, who recently passed away. So at least when the sequel comes around we can get something that sounds a little more like the original splinter other than one who drank just a little too much sake before each scene. Splinter slurs his wisdom like a drunk whino holding onto his buddies shoulder trying to keep from falling off the bar stool. The turtles sound like you expect them too and Sarah Michelle Gellar goes unnoticed as April O' Neil.

The film has some really impressive action seqeuences and does a fine job of setting itself up for a far better sequel down the line. This one will have to settle for being just slightly above average. If you are a turtles fan, like me, you will find much to enjoy in this revival of a long dead franchise. So lets toast some sake to our favorite foursome because they are back to kick some serious shell!
