Movie Reviews of T. Rex: Born To BoogieMovie Review: great. GREAT. Summary: 5 Stars
seriously, sam graham or whatever his name is doesn't know what he's talking about. t rex is the real thing, from albums like zinc alloy and the hidden riders of tomorrow and bolan's zip gun to slider and electric warrior, this band is way unappreciated, and a lot of it is because they are compared to the beatles. t rex IS a one trick pony, most bands are, but what marc bolon gets out of that same glam formula is some downright CONSISTENT rock and roll, i have yet to hear a bad t rex album. . . . this is a movie that rocks, and really any rockumentary from that time period is gonna be pretty interesting, this is pretty much no exception. . .
Movie Review: T. Rex : Restored and Remastered beautifully Summary: 5 Stars
This was recorded live and with this restored film version you can hear and see every nuance of the music. Even better, this video contains unedited versions of two concerts with jam sessions and solos which feature all 4 band members. A truly great added feature is the ability to select the shots from different cameras that filmed simultaneously, and the ability to select separate audio tracks and listen to the individual performers and their instruments. Not just good for T.Rex fans alone. aAnyone who likes hard rock and wants to see a real band playing live will enjoy this video.
Movie Review: "Boogie" nights Summary: 5 Stars
This is literally hours of first rate T. Rex performances, plenty of evenings worth of material to pour through where the was once very little. If you're a fan of Bolan or just like the rock and the roll, it's perfection, great stuff presented with (to my untrained eyes and ears) excellent sound and picture.
Others have written variations on this but, for the fan, this set is truly on a par with the best recent rock 'n roll DVD releases: "The Grateful Dead Movie," "Led Zeppelin," "Dig!" "The Kids Are All Right," "The Beatles Anthology." Great stuff.
Movie Review: I have finally seen him live! Summary: 5 Stars
Brilliant from start to finish. The movie, documentaries, concerts and extras all first rate.
This material has been so beautifully remastered the sound (5.1 DTS) and film (HD)appear as if they were shot last year.
Although I own almost every Marc Bolan and T.Rex album ever released I find myself a fan reborn following the Trextacy of viewing these 6+ hours.
The scenes with Ringo are a joy and it was great finally getting to know Rolan.
If the limit of your exposure to Marc Bolan was 'Bang a Gong' this is still a must have.
Movie Review: T. Rexcellence Summary: 5 Stars
A stunning restoration of this film with the great care and attention that was needed to do it justice. Transports you back to 1972 as though it was yesterday. The fun and humour of the time and the affection with which all those involved look back at the period and project is infectious and heart-warming. How modern technology enables material of this type to be cleansed and invigorated with new life is as remarkable as the performance of the band itself.
Outstanding value at twice the price.
