Movie Reviews of Sweet Home AlabamaMovie Review: Go Bama!!! Summary: 5 Stars
An outstanding romantic comedy, Sweet Home Alabama, brings to the screen the story of a young couple from the South who after having drifted apart, gradually rediscover what had made them fall in love in the first place.
It is a film about human relations, hope and second chances, but most importantly about trust, love, and inner strength.
Reese Witherspoon, Josh Lucas, and the rest of the cast, have truly outdone themselves with their performances, which are exceptional to say the least! All the actors, without exceptions, give it their 100% and it really shows (the chemistry is AMAZING)! Very well written and very well presented, the movie is without a doubt guaranteed to provide more than just a few laughs, not to mention a few tears. The film is simple enough, but does a great job of describing people's every day lives and the problems they face. It just goes to show that simplicity is often far better than complexity, when trying to present issues of a human nature.
The setting, the plot, the dialogues, the humor (!!!), and the music are all wonderful!
In short, Sweet Home Alabama is a movie definitely worth watching and one to seriously consider adding to your movie collection!
Movie Review: Give the actors some slack this is a gr8 movie!!! Summary: 5 Stars
Well just to start out i loved this movie, it was gr8. I not see why people call it dumb. There are so many people that, seriouly, must hate people from the south, because all that ive read is people from the south are such sterotypes, im sure the people from the south hate the way we live, and hate the people from the north as much as people here seem to hate them. Give the the actors some slack, i mean really. What if any of you (that hate this movie) made one, and you really like it, i bet it wouldnt even make it into the 50 most wanted to see movies. Give the characters some slack and think of what it would feel like to know that people think your movie [stinks] the big one. Well back to the movie, it was so awesome, reese is so cute, and a serious actor who is just fun lovin' and such a sweetie. And there are some movies that the main character choose the person she was going too in the beginning. And i sure that all of you who have seen it were wanting her to choose her 1st husband, and if you hated it so bad then why didnt you just get off your fat [heiny] and leave if it was so horrible, or are you just to lazy? Anyways go ahead and live alittle spend 4.50 on a movie that you will love, and WON'T regret seeing.
Movie Review: A Cute and Enjoyable Romantic Comedy Summary: 5 Stars
Though this movie is by no means Oscar-worthy, it is an adorable romantic comedy with better acting and chemistry between the two main characters than most movies of this genre. In other reviews, people complained that Reese Witherspoon's character, Melanie, was selfish and unlikable but I think the fact that she's not perfect--i.e., a real person--makes the movie better. I also liked that Melanie's fiance, played by Patrick Dempsey, was consistently a good guy throughout the movie, even though she ultimately chooses her husband (played by Josh Lucas). The writers could have taken the easy way out and made her fiance turn into a jerk, thus making Melanie's choice between the two men a no-brainer. But, again, the movie shows realism in portraying life as full of hard, complex decisions. Reese Witherspoon is very good as a girl who is initially embarrassed by her roots, but ends up being proud of who she is. Josh Lucas is great as her stubborn but charming and sweet Southern husband. And, the ending is predictable, but what do you expect? It's a romantic comedy; you'd be disappointed if it wasn't what you predicted, and fortunately, this movie didn't disappoint.
Movie Review: Love Triangle - Civil War Style Summary: 5 Stars
Just who will hot New York fashion designer Melanie Carmichael (aka Melanie Smooter) choose? Her heart is torn like a north and south divide between first husband Jake in Alabama and fiance Andrew, the JFK-like son of Manhattan's mayor who plans to groom her son to Presidental status. After Andrew proposes Melanie must rush through a divorce with Jake only to find that after 7 years of running away, she is still a Southern Belle at heart.
Melanie's torn heart is like a civil war clash as her accent changes back and forth to reflect her inner turnoil and personality identity confusion. Just who is she? She wonders as her marriage preparations are underway. Is she the chick New York fashion designer who creates clothes that are picked up my high-end retail stores all over the country? Is she the Manhattan socialite who has nabbed the most elibible bachelor in town? Or is she a southern belle confederate sweetheart still in love with her first love? Is she really truly just Melanie Smooter Perry who inspired Jake to make something of himself when she left after a miscarrage?
The only way to know is to watch her walk down the aisle a second time.
Movie Review: Oh, how sweet it is! Summary: 5 Stars
In Sweet Home Alabama, Reese Witherspoon stars as Melanie Carmichael, a famous New York City fashion designer and the girlfriend of the mayor's (Candice Bergen) son, Andrew (Patrick Dempsey). When Andrew proposes to Melanie, by closing Tiffany's and telling her to pick out a ring, she heads to her backwoods hometown in Alabama to get a divorce from her childhood friend, Jake (Josh Lucas), who she secretly married in high school and refuses to sign the divorce papers. After spending some time with Jake, her parents and some old friends, Melanie begins to have second-thoughts about her impending marriage to Andrew.Sweet Home Alabama is predictable, but what romantic comedy isn't? I thought this was a fantastic and hilarious movie with a great storyline. Reese Witherspoon is always wonderful in any movie she's in and it clearly shows in this film. Patrick Dempsey and Josh Lucas are especially good in their roles as Melanie's love interests. This is a must see! The special features on the DVD include eight deleted scenes, an alternate ending (the one used in the movie is much better), director's commentary and SHeDAISY's lovely music video for "Mine All Mine."
