Movie Reviews of Superman Returns [Blu-ray]

Movie Review: Superman Returns, but maybe should have stayed home
Summary: 3 Stars

Lex Luthor plans to create new real estate with a big bang, defeat Superman with Kryptonite, and Superman tries to spark with Lois Lane. Hmm, sound familiar, it should, its the 1978 Superman movie. Could we not at least have a new plot? Performances are only average, with the exception of Brandon Routh who does a good job.

Movie Review: Could be Great but is only ok
Summary: 3 Stars

I was really hoping this movie to be great but is only ok. And please no nore Lex Luthor. They can make a great superman movie without luthor as main criminal ( doomsday anyone )

Movie Review: Superman Returns (BluRay) Review..... Not The Best That It Could Have Been
Summary: 2 Stars

As in all my reviews, I'm not going to review the movie. I'm going to review the picture quality and the overall presentation of the disc...But if I had to review the movie, I would give it a 6/10. The movie was ok, but for a fan like me whose been obsessed with this film for years, checking updates on the movie, watching the videos of Bryan Singer during production, posting on BlueTights.net forums, I WAS SEVERLY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE FILM. But, like I said, I'm not going to review the movie. Anywayz, I had to get the movie on HD because I am a Superman fan. I have a PS3, and it was my first HD movie. I don't see why everybody here is giving such praise on the quailty of the video. The video wasn't top notch and I would not use this as a demo to show off.

I'm using a HDMI cable, so I'm getting 1080p. The video is very soft and doesn't look HighDef to me. The film crew used HD cameras to film the movie, but I don't see that result in this transfer. I'm very sure if I pop in the DVD version, I will get the same detail (this is an assumption). When I watch HighDef, I want to say "WOW" sometimes, and that is how I know this is HighDef (ex. Spider-Man 3 or Planet Earth). I did not get that with Superman Returns. I mean, it is a clean transfer, but what exactly is so highdef about it? One scene that I can maybe show you an example is the time we see Lex's yacht in the ocean during the storm in the beginning of movie when they are searching for the Fortress of Solitude, right after the scene where we see Superman fainting in Martha Kent's arms and we get that wide shot of the ship in Smallville. The scene of the yacht in the ocean was sooooooo soft and there was no HighDef detail whatsoever. I want to see the wrinkles, and amount of craters on everybody's faces for me say "Wow, now this is High Definition".

I can't review the audio since I don't have a sound system.

I love the extras, and I love the fact that it's on the same disc as the movie. It's a BluRay, it has the capacity..... why not? Some movies don't do that for some reason, and if they don't, than why do they even mention the amount of capacity. Anywayz, the extras are great, they go into great detail about the preproduction, post production, and casting. I wish they included the Bryan Singer's blogs, but hey, no complaint here on extras.

Conclusion, an ok transfer of the film which I don't see me using as a demo for HIGHDEF. But, is it a must buy, for a Superman fan.... yes, but for a non fan or somebody that greatly hated the film....... I still say buy because it's SUPERMAN.

Movie Review: Hmmmm

Sorry to tell you Blu ray Fans but this looks WAY WAY better about 10 times better on HD than Bluray The color is way off and it gets to dark at times, the HD is Right on the money, the water looks Amazing. Sorry but it does look better in HD, so if you have an HD player go get this in HD, because it Sucks on the ps3. ok so i was wrong, shoot me

Movie Review: I could have seen this in the Reeve films.

I mean, where's the super villians from the comics? It's Superman vs Luthor & kryptonite again..this isn't new stuff..its old! If Luthor's the villian again, why couldn't we get him in that armor or him & some super villians vs Superman? Geez..
