Movie Reviews of Superman Returns [Blu-ray]Movie Review: Normal DVDs have better bundles Summary: 4 Stars
Even though it cost a lot more for the Blu-Ray Version it kinda sucks that we dont even get any of the nice cool bonus that the Normal DVDs get like that Superman and etc.
Movie Review: Good Movie Summary: 4 Stars
Good movie and it looks incredible on a PS 3 playing on a Panasonic 58" Plasma 750U.
Movie Review: Great picture with an average plot Summary: 3 Stars
This is an interesting movie with both pros and cons
The picture quality is outstanding and provided you have the proper hd 1080 equipment you will really enjoy it.
The plot is interesting although it tends to be slow at times. It does reflect the 1970s theme which gives it an interesting twist. Kevin Specey is the villain taken directly out of the comic book but his character is spiced up both by his acting as well as the script. However Lois Lane (Kate Bosworth) is quite flat and, at least in this movie, does not justify Superman's feelings towards her.
The directing is decent. Sole exception is that in the airplane flight in the beggining of the film she gets bounded around quite badly (an average person would have being killed) yet she emerges without a scratch or broose and her hair is perfectly combed while the rest of the women in the scene are all messed up.
All in all it is not a bad film with an excellent picture quality.
Movie Review: blu-ray got cheated by warner Summary: 3 Stars
Video was superb for the newest installment of the superman saga. Movie as a whole, I liked it. It's a modern superman vs what we have seen or remembered from christopher reeve's superman. Some people don't like it but I believe it was due to their own high expectations that let them down.
Warner gave both hd-dvd and blu-ray the same VC-1 video transfer. Yet gave hd-dvd TrueHD and to blu-ray the regular dolby digital 5.1. HD-DVD double layer is only 30 gigs vs blu-ray's 50 gigs. Blu-ray have 20 gigs more to provide to Warner, yet they chose to just screw us. They could have easily left TrueHD in it and put countless dolby digital, DTS, or even lossless PCM audio for those players who do not support TrueHD. This seems like an intentional move by warner so I am only rating this blu-ray 3 stars due to their strategy.
Movie Review: Great Movie, Poor Picture Quality Summary: 3 Stars
This is a great movie but has one of the poorest picture qualities of all released Blu-Ray movies. The picture is very soft and colors are muted. I am pretty sure this is the way the movie was shot and not due to problems with the blu-ray format as the HD DVD version has the same problems. Definitely not a title to be used for showing off your new PS3 or blu-ray player to your friends.
