Movie Reviews of Super TroopersMovie Review: Great comedy with hilarious cast Summary: 5 Stars
Super Troopers is a great movie that will no doubt have you laughing throughout. The story follows the efforts of five Vermont highway patrol officers and their captain. Because of certain budget cuts, the station may be shut down forcing them to transfer to another station. The officers know they have to do something big or else they could all lose their jobs. Their opportunity arises when a murder and a drug trafficking ring is linked together. All the while, the highway patrol is battling nearby local police for control of the area. This is a very funny movie with an excellent ensemble cast. The best part of the movie is the routines the guys have that they use to mess with people when they pull them over on the road. Some of the other routines are just as funny like the bulletproof cup and Rabbit's diversion late in the movie. Super Troopers has an excellent ensemble cast that works great together. Brian Cox plays the veteran captain trying to keep his men together and is very good especially the last half hour. The five officers are played by Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter, and Eric Stolhanske as Thorny, Foster, Mac, Rabbit, and Favra. The DVD offers theatrical trailers, widescreen format, extended scenes, deleted scenes with commentary, outtakes, an alternate ending, and a featurette. Super Troopers is a vastly underrated comedy that is hilarious from beginning to end. Don't miss Super Troopers!
Movie Review: Broken Lizard... these guys are a riot. Super Troopers is outstanding! Summary: 5 Stars
My wife rented this on a recommendation from our local video store owner, it was a hit. We laughed the entire time. These guys are incredibly funny, but anyone looking for some higher humor may not appreciate it. This is just plain, simple fun. Some gags are in your face, others are a bit more subtle but if you catch them you'll be rolling on the floor. That is, if you appreciate this kind of humor, and I do.
We bought the DVD to add to our collection and have watched it a few times since, and will watch it more I can guarantee you. Recently I ordered Club Dread, and I'm looking forward to seeing that. Hey, I'm a Broken Lizard fan, what can I say?
While it is inane, this is a well made film. Everything is done perfectly. Great camera work, great editing, great costumes and locations, great timing and delivery. I can't wait to see the other Broken Lizard movies.
Another reviewer mentioned that this was the first Broken Lizard movie. Correction, this is their second. Puddle Cruiser was their first film made back in 1996. I've heard mixed reviews on Puddle Cruiser, but you know what? I'm going to buy it anyway. I think I'll find something worth watching in any Broken Lizard movie. These guys are just naturals. But Super Troopers, man this is one hell of a funny movie. Check it out.
Movie Review: as funny as american cinema gets Summary: 5 Stars
This is one of the funniest and greatest films in modern American cinema. i love at the beginning when the cops tell the stoners to pull over and theyre like 'we cant pull over any farther'. you have to see that part to appreciate it cause once you do you will be using that line for years. the guy in the back trippin out cause he ate the whole bag of pot and shrooms. hes like 'the snozberries taste like snozberries'. great line. best character is farva. hes on radio duty cause he pulled over a bus full of kids and he attacked them after they threw something at him from the window. top 2 farva moments: 1) farva asks for a 'liter cola' and the stoner kid at the burger place is like we dont have those and when farva gets his burger and drink he tears off the game piece to see if he won and theres a whole and all the drink falls on farva and he beats the kid up and he gets suspended from duty. 2) farva brings everyone coffee during the meeting and for the rookie he writes 'stupid rookie' on his cup and puts a bar of soap inside. before he came in the rookie was singing the vermont highway patrol officer song and farva missed it so when he comes in hes like 'sing it again rookie bia*ch'. anyways this movie rules and you should buy it cause it never gets old.
Movie Review: There's a reason it's a cult classic Summary: 5 Stars
Super Trooper is a wacky tale chronicling the happenings of the Highway Patrol as they arrest criminals, battle the local Police Department over jurisdiction, and get into all sorts of shenanigans while pulling pranks on the job.
The clear allure of this movie is that it's filled to the brim with zany antics. It's Dumb and Dumber and Wedding Crashers with badges. From the beginning chase scene with the stoned kids who were littering and, littering and, littering and smoking the reefer, to the various Farva idiosyncrasies that make his character one deserving of a sequel, Super Troopers is without a doubt one of the funniest movies ever made.
Keeping up consistent laughs is the key to a really good comedy, and therein lies the greatness of this movie. Even a toned down scene of serving coffee at the station or eating breakfast at a local diner - there is no way someone could chug that much syrup - is saturated with humor.
Rather than spoiling the various gags with all sorts of detail, it's best to just highly recommend this laugh-riot. For maximum pleasure, I recommend inviting German swingers over, having a pre-movie viewing of Afghanistanimation, serving nothing but liters of cola, and listening to the cat on your lap gently meow.
Movie Review: Stop Jumping On The Bed! Summary: 5 Stars
Super Troopers is one of those movies that I like to pull off the shelf every month or so and watch it. To me, this fact makes it a classic. I simply can't get enough of this movie. I'm not so sure if this is an over the top hilarious movie throughout, but there is something about these characters playing the roles of cops that just works. Broken Lizard did a great job in this movie and I really like the energy they bring to the table. I think I love this movie so much because most of us spend our commutes hoping we don't get pulled over, so it's nice to watch a bunch of knuckleheads playing the roles of cops and we are able to laugh at them without getting a nightstick to the head. The story is mostly about the Highway Patrol and the local Police Department's rivalry. Jokes are played, fights happen, German's are pulled over and "held hostage", and of course booze and drugs are abundant. There's a nice love story that has it's funny moments, but the king of this movie for me is Farva... the over excited cop who just knows how to annoy everyone in his own special way. Farva steals this movie in my opinion. This is definitely a movie that everyone should own because just like Office Space you can watch this movie over and over again. 5 stars for these guys.
