Movie Reviews of Sunshine

Movie Review: One of the Best Films of 2007
Summary: 5 Stars

Sunshine was virtually ignored by the critics and was released to a small amount of theatres in the U.S. What a shame! Sunshine is one of the most visually stunning, true Science Fiction films to come in in the past few years.

I missed going to see this in the theatre, but I was lucky enough to see this film on DVD. Sunshine is loaded with amazing special effects and has that "grand scope" feel that you get watching movies like 2001: A Space Odyssey. All the actors turn in top notch performances and the ending is literally mind-blowing.

I recommend this film to anyone who likes Science Fiction films like Blade Runner, Dark City or 2001.

Movie Review: Year's Best Sci-Fi Film
Summary: 5 Stars

"Sunshine" was without a doubt the best sci-fi film of 2007. I don't know why it only saw limited release. I agree with Dana Stevens of Slate Magazine: this just misses classic greatness. The cinematography of "Sunshine" looks spectacular. The plot keeps piling on the tension. Some elements have been done before, but director Danny Boyle makes it all seem new.

Ironically, and probably unintentionally, "Sunshine" makes the case for unmanned space missions. If the human crew is going to override the computer, it's better (and cheaper) to just send the computer. But nobody is going to make a thrilling adventure movie about an unmanned spaceship.

Movie Review: Good Evening Ladies and Gentlemen, Let me begin......
Summary: 5 Stars

A science fiction film is hard to come by these days. Because mainly we as a society have ran out of good futuristic ideas. Though this plots seems a little used they completely reinvent the idea. Even using sci/fi to create an eerie mood with a disturbing character added to the cast of astronauts. The plot-The sun has exstinguished and therefore we have sent a ship into outer space with nuclear bombs attached to it that will ram into the sun and hopefully reignite it. Along the way many problems occur and I will not ruin in plot developement. But I highly suggest this movie its a wonderful ride.

Movie Review: Great sci-fi thriller
Summary: 5 Stars

Danny Boyle was the reason I watched this movie. "28 Days Later" was one of the best nontraditional horror thrillers I'ev seen in years, and he's accomplished the same thing now for the science fiction genre. With Earth's sun dying, a group of astronauts and scientists pilots a spacecraft with a vital cargo -- an explosive device powerful enough (they hope) to reignite the star. Boyle glosses over a lot of the science in this film, but that's okay. The characterization and the suspense are strong enough to propel this movie along to a truly powerful climax.

Movie Review: A moving and visually stunning film.
Summary: 5 Stars

When I first saw this film, it was on DVD...and I wish I had gone to see it in the theatre. The special effects were outstanding, and the story keeps you hooked from beginning to end. Everyone in this film did a wonderful job of emoting their raw feelings, and Danny Boyle made this film into a complex blend of sci-fi and humanity. Cillian Murphy comes through the screen and hooks you into the story so much that you feel like you are in the film with him as he strives to complete his part of the mission to the sun on Icarus-2. A very underated film.
