Movie Reviews of Sunshine

Movie Review: our dying sun
Summary: 5 Stars

this is the first film where chris evans doesn't act like a cocky a-hole trying to be funny. and he's great! the first time i liked him in anything. he played his character really well.

the best things about this movie: loved the atmosphere of the setting. i don't remember a sci-fi ship design being this good since the first alien or the abyss station. loved the spacesuit designs, not sexy at all, and they're not supposed to be. loved the diverse cast.

sure there are flaws. i think the story could have been just as exciting without the fanatical religious character, that's already been done in contact. i wished they would have had to face only technical problems like in apollo 13. still, i don't remember the last time i was so wowed by a sci-fi film. loved the soundtrack too.

fyi, this is coming from someone who hated armageddon.

Movie Review: This is a Great film! (Spoilers in my review)
Summary: 5 Stars

This movie was outstanding! it was slow to start but it was so Visually stunning that I never took my eyes off it. I did have one big problem with some of the people. To be earth last hope and the best we had for the job they certainly became stupid fast. To use a movie line, "The needs of the many out weight the needs of the few." No way do I buy that the smartest people in the world would take a chance the last chance there was to ave the world and blow it because they felt the need to rescue a few people. Yeah they justified it by saying they needed the other package but the underline thee was to save the crew from the other ship. So that was my biggest problem with this movie. So that being said the picture redeemed itself in the last half, with suspense and action! I enjoyed it tremendously! And yes as others have said the ending will blow you away!

Movie Review: Great film! Could have been one of the greatest
Summary: 5 Stars

Sunshine could have been one of the greatest science fiction movies ever made, as it is it's a very good one. The first three-quarters of the film are amazing. The look is spot on, the cast and script are excellent. the story is interesting and the soundtrack is among the best ever recorded. A ship departs Earth to carry a stellar bomb to the core of our dying sun to save mankind. Instead of allowing the inherent dangers of such a mission to act as the antagonist in this desperate tale, the film maker had to interject a rather tired element toward the end that, while not ruining the film, does make it something less than it could have been. In the final analysis Sunshine is a great move. Don't let the poor reviews deter you. If you love science fiction this is a must see!

Movie Review: An Amazing Film - Beautiful, Intelligent, and Evocative
Summary: 5 Stars

You will read from some other reviews that this film is flawed in the ending. I won't disagree with that. But I will say that even with the "flawed" ending, this is still one of the most amazing films shot in the last decade. The cinematography is stunning. The audio is amazing. The concepts and intelligence displayed in the execution of the story and plot are highly engaging and well done. The special effects are top notch, and the soundtrack is wonderful. Oh yeah, and the acting is first rate as well! If you are a fan of intelligent science fiction, along the lines of Solaris (another great movie for intelligent adults), then you owe it to yourself to watch this movie. You may debate about the ending, but that is really only 10 or 15 minutes of an amazing experience.

Movie Review: A Stunning and Beautiful, Bittersweet Adventure
Summary: 5 Stars

This movie is nothing short of brilliant! It is painfully beautiful to follow this movie to its bittersweet climax. The film is very well acted and sports deeply moving characters who grow a little, devolve a little and feel almost as real as the pseudo-science the plot so cleanly takes for granted. I can tell this movie won't appeal to a wide audience, but like 2001 and Blade Runner, I do believe its audience and respect will grow with time. Like Stardust (2007) and Hairspray (2007), this movie (to me) is a surprise gem. With great depth, flawless effects, and a perfect cast I would like to congratulate Danny Boyle for stepping in to science fiction and delivering such an unexpectedly top notch movie experience.
