Movie Reviews of Sunshine [Blu-ray]Movie Review: Brave films don't have happy endings Summary: 4 Stars
I should avoid reading other people's reviews before writing my own. I tend to read the worst of what people have to say and often find myself wondering how they could see what they do... most often because they have a vision they think should define what the movie says and does or get caught up in what is possible in OUR world instead of the world the film maker has created.... I really liked this movie. Instead of a simple premise, predictable dialogue, and a happy ending, we are given all the drama of 8 people trying to stay sane on a long journey coinciding with a suicide mission with a noble goal driving them along. How many films kill the captain, have one of the crew kill himself, and other calamities? Not many. Yes, the earth gets its sun, but our cast are all gone with yet so many mysteries of the universe still to be unravelled.
Movie Review: Great Film - Not PS3 Ready! Summary: 4 Stars
This is one of my favorite Sci-Fi films. Great visuals, great story.. love the film and cant say enough. !!MORE IMPORTANTLY!! I purchased this blu-ray to experience the enhanced 1080p experience. My only player is my PS3. I have now come to find out this blu-ray will not run on the most current firmware update of the PS3. The PIP(picture-in-picture) commentary cannot be disabled. This for me makes the film unwatchable. I say again, if you are planning on watching this on a PS3 with the current firmware you will not be able to disable this most annoying special feature! ( Approx 10 times during the film a window will pop up with a some video of behind the scenes stuff. This will play over the movie, and for me ruins the experience.)
You have been warned!

Movie Review: Very good movie with little flaws Summary: 4 Stars
Sunshine on blu-ray blew my mind visually and as well with its fantastic audio. I don't understand why some people say it was slow in the beginning -- this is not an action movie people, it is necessary to explain why and what is going on. I am pretty critical and judging movies so this is why I gave it a 4 (would have been 4.5 if amazon let me). Something I found interesting from this movie was that all of the actors were in big movies but not necessarily the top roles (excluding Cillian Murphy). One from live free or die hard, troy, last samurai, fantastic four series, and so on... All the actors did a great job and the cinematography was absolutely wonderful. If you like movies you will like this one. But just remember its not about 7 action heroes diving into the sun.
Movie Review: Solid sci-fi allegory with strong performances Summary: 4 Stars
Think "Heart of Darkness" in space. And, instead of 'Darkness,' brightness is the ironic twist.
The film takes some surreal turns, and the biggest mistake a viewer could make would be to cling to disbelief or nitpick away at the 'science' of it all. The cast is a solid collection of familiar faces, and the film sends them off into themes of heroism, sacrifice, and desperation. Visual effects are great, and we have a classic soundtrack here that has since shown up in any number of other films, trailers, TV shows, etc.
The Blu-ray presentation looks and sounds great. Extras are satisfying. If you enjoy the film, you can't go wrong with a Blu-ray copy. If you are unsure of a 'blind buy,' definitely rent first.
Movie Review: Sunshine (2007) [Blu-ray] Summary: 4 Stars
Danny Boyle's Sunshine bursts into viewers with great energy and passion and re-detonated the sci-fi genre, which had been burnt out over the past decade (it's still one of the best films of the genre since its release). This innovative spectacle breaches the core of sci-fi entertainment and taps into the intuition of humanity. Sunshine is about more than just feeding hungry watchers with its filling dose of amusement; it's about dissension and the varying ways people come to terms with it, and it excavates the everlasting battle between religion and sciences, as well -- in an artful, thrilling manner. The Blu-ray remaster is the version you need to own, though, due to the picture's unprecedented visual tenacity.
