Movie Reviews of Student BodiesMovie Review: FINALLY!!!!!!! Summary: 5 Stars
'Student Bodies' is a 1981 cult horror-comedy/slasher parody that is seeing it's release on DVD for the first time! It was written and directed by Micky Rose and stars Kristen Ritter, Matt Goldsby, and Richard Brando as 'The Breather'.
The movie starts off in the stereotypical fashion; A Babysitter on a dark night starts getting increasingly bizarre(and silly)phone calls. When her boyfriend comes over for some 'luvin', a killer enters the house and does in with our teen couple(again in very silly fashion).
After the funeral(and 2 more murders), the next scene cuts to a school the following day where news about the murder has spread(sound familiar, I'm talking to you Wes Craven!),and we are introduced to our protagonist Toby(Ritter)and her boyfriend Hardy(Goldsby). Who are your average teen couple. From then on the story plays out in very familiar fashion(remember this was made in '81) with a rising death toll coinciding with teen sex, an even an on-screen 'death meter'!
This movie was made to spoof the now classic 'slasher boom' that started in the late 70's. The story moves in very familiar, almost cliche' fashion and will instantly remind you of 'Scream' and 'Scary Movie' with hints of the famous slasher flix of the time. Upon viewing, one can see the movies being spoofed; 'Halloween', 'Prom Night', and 'Black Christmas' are just a few of the movies being tackled.
The acting is good, the entire cast plays the parts well; including a woodshop teacher, Mr. Dumpkin(Joe Flood)who is a little to into his work. Also, the cliche' janitor, Malvert, is played by an actor who is only known by the name 'The Stretch' and his where-a-bouts are currently unknown. His performance is one of the memorable things about this film. He is a very tall, thin man who has tremendously long arms and seems 'double jointed'. his chacracter is a wild perversion of 'Forest Gump'. For example, in one dance scene he is dancing with a blow-up doll!!
'The Breather' is a classic character!! what more can I say? See the movie to see what I'm talking about!
The editing is memorable also. On a few occations, the film breaks 'the 4th wall' in various unique scenerios; including a scene specifically made to acheive an R-rating. The movie is 86 min. and never drags. In many scenes the familiar point-of-view shot is shown when the focus is on the killer(The Breather).
The music and score is familiar with screeching violins and such, in some scenes the music is part of the gag.
This is a cult-classic and a must have for fans of horror-comedy. The DVD is pretty bare bones,(only a trailer)and the transfer isn't the best, but this is the first time this movie is on DVD and I've waited years to see it again. If your like me don't hestitate to get it(who knows how long this will be in print??)
Now, how about releasing 'Pandemonium' and 'Neighbors'?
Movie Review: A must have!! Summary: 5 Stars
I have been looking for this film for years!! Not knowing the title of the film left me at a disadvantage, but I simply could not forget the villain of the film, known as "The Breather." The very first time I saw this movie, I was about 10 years old, and it was featured on USA's Up All Night Movie lineup. This movie is the forefather to the "Scary Movie" films. A talley of murders, strange murder weapons, and a twist ending! Who could imagine being murdered by an eggplant?! Not to mention the main character in the film desperately tries to keep everyone from having sex (the virgin never gets killed ploy), winds up being the suspect. This movie is still hillarious 30 years later. If you like the horror/comedy spoof, this is the film for you. Strange, yet funny, this movie brings back so many childhood memories for me. If you can believe that!
Movie Review: Learn to make horse head bookends. Summary: 5 Stars
Promiscuous high school students meat with mysterious ends. There are many suspects and as always it is the last one you suspect. For some unknown reason one girl is always on the scene. Various weapons give clues and herrings. If you are like me and have trouble counting they count for you.
There are several movies in this genre, however as with many firsts this is one of the best. It has all the creepy scenes and actually has the continuity of a motive. You will want to reply this film several times to pick up on the subtle nuances.

Movie Review: So happy I almost cried! Summary: 5 Stars
I am so elated that this movie has FINALLY been released on DVD. My older cousin took her sister and me to see this movie when it first came out. It was actually the first R rated movie I ever saw. I loved it from the first time I watched it, and I'm glad to say that it is just as funny now as it was way back then! I know, I know, it's cheesy as hell--but that's the beauty of it! As someone who grew up in the 80's, I loves me some cheese!!! Anyone who has anything bad to say about this movie should take a flying leap at a rolling donut on a gravel driveway! Two thumbs all the way up--TOTALLY, LIKE FER SHUR!!
Movie Review: Yea! for 80s horror!!! Summary: 5 Stars
When was I perusing Amazon for recommendations I did a search for Student Bodies and I was thrilled to discover its release date for next month. This movie is hilarious and memorable. I have to reiterate the fact that its more memorable than the Scary Movie series. The Breather, the gum wad and horse bookends have remained in my memory. I saw this back in the 1990s for the first time on USA and it left quite an impression. Do yourself a favor and give Student Bodies a try. I did and I wasn't disappointed.
