Movie Reviews of Streets of Fire

Movie Review: Another time, another place....
Summary: 5 Stars

I've got the DVD, I've got the VHS, I've got the soundtrack, and ,if I could find it, I'd have the poster up on my wall. I've heard people dismiss this as another 50's nostalgia movie. It ain't. Sure, there is an overall atmosphere that could be late 40's or 50's- or it could be anytime, now or a 100 years from now. This really is a rock and roll fable, because fables have a timeless, immortal quality to them. Fables also reach something deep down in you instead of skipping across the surface of your mind. I've probably seen thousands of movies since this was first realeased, yet I remember this one. I keep coming back to it when I want to feel better, when I want to feel something....
I don't know, maybe this is set in rock and roll heaven- where we all get to be Tom Cody if we're good.

Movie Review: Streets of Fire
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a great film. It's not the most thought provoking film ever made but it never pretends to be either. The set designs are terrific, Michael Pare is a great hero and the direction is pacey. Diane Lane is quite possibly the most fantastically sexy leading lady ever in this movie, the concert scenes are incredible, especially the opening song. There's a lot of atmosphere in this flick, the '50's styling with '8o's music works well - the neon drenched, rain soaked streets are a joy to behold in the DVD transfer of the film. Streets of Fire is a much underrated film, and in my opinion much the best thing Walter Hill ever made. Everyone who had a hand in making it should be proud. It should take pride of place in any movie buff's collection.

Movie Review: A classic "Hero saves the Damsel" tale!
Summary: 5 Stars

I fell in love with this movie with it's original release and now that I have it on DVD, I love it even more.

The crisp, clean images and the 5.1 surround sound envelop you and take you into the story like never before. Turning the volume way up during the musical sequences puts you at center stage, front row and it is an awesome feeling.

This is a movie that will take you away from reality for a while and let you live in a different time & place...being the hero that you have always wanted to be, or to feel the soul-touching romance that you have always wanted to feel.

Whether you want to be the hero, feel the romance, or just be totally intertained and escape reality for a bit, I HIGHLY recommend this movie to anyone!

Movie Review: This is My second review but this time on DVD
Summary: 5 Stars

Back in Oct 2002 i wrote a reveiw about Streets of fire saying it was one of the most influnential movies i had ever seen on VHS. With my copy wearing a little i decided to purchase a copy through Amazon[.com] of the DVD version and it was fantastic! The picture quality was a huge improvment and if your lucky enough to have a home cinema then you`ll know about the quality of the sound track and the way the hairs on your neck stick up when you listen to TIWIMTBY IN SURROUND SOUND! AWESOME! Hopefully it will be released in DTS, if any of you guys out there are wondering whether to buy this film, don`t ponder, do it, you`ll like the film and love the sound track and its also great to see all the stars before they became stars!

Movie Review: Streets of Fire
Summary: 5 Stars

This is one of the best movies ever made - It is a spoof that knows it is a spoof - very good dialogue and absolutely great music! "In the Blue Shadow" is one of the all-time "best-ever" rock and roll songs. Ry Cooter is a genius.

Extremely well done - excellent casting - A movie to see multiple times - I first bought it an a CD just to have it, and later purchased it on VHS, and then DVD. The sound track is also very much worth having.

Somehow or other this movie got lost "in-the-cracks." It makes one wonder about the value of the critics.

Essential for any collection!
