Movie Review: Storytelling ROCKS!
Summary: 5 Stars

Aiight, yall. Buy this DVD, because Todd Solondz is awesome. That's all I'm going to say about the movie, but I see that people are confused about production, so I'll clarify. It was always meant to be Fiction and Non-Fiction, just those two stories, however, James Van Der Beek of Dawson fame was to play a part in the Fiction story. It was all filmed, but cut out, and will not be seen on the DVD because of many reasons. The final movie is great, but definitely missing something - I feel that Van Der Beek's part shouldn't have been cut out. Get it anyway though, I think I enjoyed it better than Happiness.

Movie Review: real comedy

Todd Solondz has said that he thinks all his movies are comedies, just very sad ones. He doesn't just turn out amazing movies that redefine the word "entertainment"; he's Chekhov's heir apparent. That's made clear in his newest film, which is a brilliant blend of perceptive realism and hysterical absurdity. These are stories without morals, but not without meaning. It's a wonderful movie, and most people are going to hate it.

To me, the meaning behind the Fiction/Non-Fiction split is to point out the irony that the "Fiction" story uses more realism and the "Non-Fiction" story is so over-the-top, it couldn't be real.

If you like Belle & Sebastian, then you owe it to yourself to watch this. Todd Solondz is a genius. Robert Wisdom gives an incredible "performance", as Selma Blair will attest!
