Movie Reviews of Stephen King's It

Movie Review: 'IT' Rules!!!!!!!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

Have you been wandering the movie store aisles looking for a nice flick to watch at home with a bucket of popcorn? And you wandered into the horror section just to pass the time? And you know you hate horror? Or even if you do... Well, 'It' is nw my favorite movie. I was afraid of it when I was younger but now that I'm 12, this movie isn't scary at all.

Take it from me, my mom HATES scary movie. She absolutely HATES them. But she willingly sat down and watched this movie with me. It can be a little exciting at parts though. (Horror fans, I am like you. I need a good scary movie. But this is just so odd and marvelous). A stephen king clasic! Horror fans will love it, and people who hate them, well, you'll enjoy it more than you thought you would.

But to those people who need to know the "scary" parts before they see it, here goes. (NOTE: DONT READ THIS IF YOU WANT TO BE SURPRISED!!!!!)

1. Clown in storm drain kills kid.
2. Freakish clown face and odd voice.
3. Occasional "razor sharp teeth" from clown.
4. Giant spider (Don't worry, I hate spiders and it was TOO EASY to handle).
5. Blood coming from sink.
6. Picture coming to life and clown coming out of it.
7. Gorey sequences
8. Suicide in bathtub (you dont actual see him dying tho)
9. clown coming up from school shower drain
10. Shower nozzles coming to life
11. and many more...

Don;t worry. 'It' rules!!!

Movie Review: One of the greatest Made-for-TV films ever!
Summary: 5 Stars

A made-for-tv movie, Stephen King's "It" is about 7 children (They call theirselves the "Lucky Seven") who, along with other kids, are terrorized by a clown named Pennywise, who uses their worst fears against them. After they ALMOST defeat the clown as kids, Pennywise gets away. However, he comes back 30 years later to kill more children and to haunt them again! It's up to the remaining six (one character commits suicide) to take Pennywise down once and for all. The cast consists of John Ritter, Seth Green, and Jonathan Brandis, among others. It's 3 hours and 12 minutes long, but it kept me entertained. However, the DVD is 3 hours and 7 minutes long due to edits:

At the end of part 1, the final showing of "IT" written in the blood on the bathroom wall after Stan's wife finds that he has slit his wrist in the bathtub, accompanied by Pennywise laughing and "to be continued" has been cut.

Part 2 starts with Bill arriving at the Derry cemetery. This completely cuts out his conversation with the woman at the hotel desk, along with the opening credits.

Also, The DVD release is presented in a "matted" 1.85:1 anamorphic wide screen transfer which adds black bars to the top and bottom of the movie's original full-frame (1.33:1) aspect ratio.

I still bought the DVD, even though the edits take away 5 minutes of the movie. "It" on DVD is worth the purchase, if you ask me.

Movie Review: The best horror mini-series on TV next to "The Stand".
Summary: 5 Stars

Seven adults ( John Ritter, Harry Anderson, Dennis Christopher, Richard Masur, Annette O'Toole, Tim Reid and Richard Thomas) had a terrifying childhood in the 60's in a maine town where an evil being in the form of a clown named "Pennywise" ( Tim Curry) has murdered children there and the kids stopped him. However in 30 years, they are grown up and suddenly murders start happening in that maine town by the creature " IT" and must face IT again.

Excellent adaptation of the classic Stephen King novel and packs great scares, fine performances especially by the terrifying Tim Curry and shocks as well. It's probably the best Stephen King mini-series movie this side of " The Stand".

Also recommended: " Freddy Vs. Jason", " A Nightmare on Elm Street", " Hellraiser", " Making Contact ( a.k.a. Joey)", " The Ring", " Candyman", " Hellbound: Hellraiser II", " Creepshow", " Stephen King's Cat's Eye", " Dreamcatcher", " House By The Cemetery", " City of the Living Dead", " The Dead Zone ( Both Cronenberg 1983 version and remake)", " Ringu", " The Shining ( both versions)", " The Beyond", "The Others", " Poltergeist" and " House on Haunted Hill ( 1999)".

Movie Review: I liked it a lot. : )
Summary: 5 Stars

This was, without a doubt, one of the most interesting movies I've ever seen...well, the first part that is. It seemed as if Stephen King not only portrayed fantasy scary clowns, but also some issues as well - getting accepted by fellow students, racism, bullies, abusive parents, et. cetera. So it's a pretty topical movie, if you catch my gist. Sure, the clown is a little freaky, but I think that this was definitely a good movie. The young actors did a fine job portraying their characters (even if the adults were a little more than hokey), and they really made this movie seem as good as it was to me. You also got to catch a glimpse of Seth Green's early years on this film, along with Jonathan Brandis. But personally, I really liked Ben Heller, the guy who played the young Stan Uris. I absolutely adored him throughout the movie and was sad when I found out it was his only one. He did a good job, along with all the others.

But yeah, watch this movie. I suggest only the first part, because the second half was a little corny, if not boring. (Giant spider?) Hey, if you want to watch the second half, go ahead, but the first part really is what makes this movie as good as it is.

Movie Review: I got region 4 but it's the same version as region 1
Summary: 5 Stars

The DVD itself is just average. For a TV mini series, I'd say we're lucky to even get a commentary track. The good news is that this DVD has nothing cut out unlike the edited VHS version we have in Australia. The scenes that was missing in the Australian VHS version is where Henry escapes from Juniper Hills (where Pennywise's head turns into a dog's head), also a long discussion where the adult loser's club is talking about how the whole town is "IT". Other than that there were also some scenes that ended before the music had stopped or screen had faded but luckily the DVD has all of the proper footage.

The picture and sound quality is decent throughout the entire disc. The region 4 DVD is double-sided so it has part 1 of "IT" on one side of the disc and to watch part 2 of "IT" you have to flip the disc over (I'm assuming this is the same as the region 1 version). I'm not really too fond of double-sided DVD's as they're easier to scratch and such but I'm just telling you this in case you'd rather avoid them and such.

Fans of "IT" shall enjoy the DVD.
