Movie Reviews of Stephen King's It

Movie Review: Loved IT!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

It (1990) is one of Stephen King's shining (no pun intended) moments. Of course, I'm talking about the book, but I'm also talking about the movie. I love the setting of the movie (New England) which is so common with King's works, but the New England setting works especially well in this movie. If Pennywise the clown were haunting and terrorizing a big city, it wouldn't have worked as well. When watching the movie, it slowly dawns on the viewer to ask, "Why here? Derry, Maine?" Actually, Derry is a town in New Hampshire, but King creates a Derry, Maine in this film. I think that the acting of Richard Thomas is superb, as he really brings out a character in distress at times. His stuttering adds a special chill to the scenes, as this was a part of his childhood, and took place the same time his young brother, Georgie was killed. The movie is long, but that's because it's really 2 movies in 1 (30 years ago), then onto the present time. I think that this works very well, and gives the viewer a good feel for what the kids went through in facing Pennywise. A few flashbacks wouldn't have worked as well. I'm glad that the makers of the movie decided to show how these kids developed into their adult selves, whether it was through abusive parents, or being the victims of harrassment from their peers. I think that Pennywise's appearances in the film are not too much or too little. I think that it's better to show the villain less than show it more. This way, it keeps the viewer on the edge of their seat, and creates a feeling of appreciation without wearing out "IT'S" welcome. The very beginning of the movie features a scene that is very similar to John Carpenter's Halloween, as Pennywise is behind hung clothes on a clothes line. This was the perfect intro to Pennywise, and gets into the psyche of the viewer right away. Overall, IT is a very good movie for the horror aficionado. The music is done very well, too. 9/10

Movie Review: {"I AM THE EATER OF WORLDS & OF CHILDREN"}
Summary: 5 Stars

Stephen King's It' is still as fresh as the first time i seen it
"BEEP! BEEP! RICHIE!" = PENNYWISE the clown
my most & all time favorite part of the movie is when PENNYWISE says & i quote
{"I AM THE EATER OF WORLDS & OF CHILDREN"} WOAH! thats serial killer deep.\

Plot Outline: Seven youths have to defeat a demonic creature named Pennywise which dresses in a clown suit and terrorizes a 1960's town in Maine.

The story unfolds like a two part mini-series(which the film was originally ment to be). In the first half, a bunch of seven kids in a small town realise that recent child killings are not the work of a murderer, but are attributable to a monster which awakes every thirty years. They track it down and very nearly kill it, but it just manages to escape. Thirty years later, the seven are all grown up, but they re-unite to seek out the monster when it once more awakens for its regular killing spree.

The acting is very goood, especially John Ritter as a successful architect and Tim Curry as the terrifying Pennywise the Clown. There are some spooky moments, but nothing that I would describe as absolutely horrifying. This is an unusually deep and detailed horror film, well worth seeing.

Movie Review: Stephen drops a Bomb-Ass hit here!
Summary: 5 Stars

Stephen King's IT is a story about 7 strugglin' kids who live in a town called Derry, Maine in which the town has history of children disappearing without a trace, in which Derry, Maine is a labeled as a small, dirty hick town, that is haunted, creepy, homophobic, snobby, racist, mysterious, anti-semitic, bullies, and just ignorant opressed elderly people (in which you read in the book)that is haunted by a strange creature that contacts to dopey little kids. The creature can disguise itself of anything that the kids fear, such as It disguised as a Clown named "Pennywise". Pennywise likes to offer people balloons to hypnotize them with its Dead Lights so Pennywise The Dancing Clown traps them into his Lure.

Part II of IT, Mike Hanlon (the Black Guy), calls up his 6 other friends to warn them that IT has come back to Derry, Maine in which all of the other 6 kids have went their own seperate ways, the funniest part like what hockeyplaya187 said, when Pennywise is in the Library laughing & criticizing that one guy because he was talking to chicks under his age, then Pennywise releases blood-filled balloons & tells crazy jokes! The only way people can see "IT" is if they look through the Dead Lights behind Pennywise, though in the shelter thing near the swamps, you can also see the Dead Lights creeping around pipes in the sewers. To bad "IT" like hockeyplaya187 said, the creature is a Giant Spider that the Dead Lights are on its belly, to bad all they had to do is shoot the Spider at its Dead Lights, then it was weak, then they just jump the Spider and tear out it's heart & IT dies! Good & Long Movie, Remember!

Movie Review: IT strikes fear into DVD forever~
Summary: 5 Stars

I've never been a Stephen King fan. Granted, I'm only fourteen, but I've found his books hard to finish. That is, until I read IT. FInally, a few weeks ago I finished. Then I decided to watch the movie again, and was rather impressed. The only thing wrong was the older portrayl of Ben Hanscom, and even that was impressive. The story begins with Mike Hanlon calling all of his friends to come back and battle IT, the monster of Derry that stalks children- No adults can see them. The only problem is, IT is a true monster and has never been beaten. Here's a quick character run down:
Beverly Marsh- a tough girl with red hair who had an abusive father. Brave, great with a slingshot.
Bev Rogan- Top fashion designer. Beautiful, desirable. The only problem- she married Tom Rogan, a copy of her father.
Bill Denbrough- The leader. Stuttering worse since his brother's death, always has a plan.
William Denbrough- Popular writer and screenplay writer. Married famous actress Audra.
Ben Hanscom- large, shy boy who loves reading. Huge crush on Beverly.
Ben Hascom- Architect, lonely man who never married
Eddie Kaspbrak- Oversensitive boy who has athsma
Edward Kasbrak- Successful limo driver, still sensitive
Richie Toizer- loudmoth boy who lets his mouth get ahead of his brain
RIchard Toizer- fast talking radio announcer
Stan Uris- Jewish boyscout who could be the weakest of them all
Stanely Uris- married succesful accountant
Mike Hanlon- Black Derry native, the last member

Michael Hanlon- Derry librarian

Movie Review: Good film, but a terrible ending.
Summary: 5 Stars

This is probably the best Stephen King movie I have ever watched. Sure, it may be about 3 hours long, but it's so enjoyable it seems to go like an hour. Tim Curry, plays Pennywise the clown extremely well, he can be very similar to Freddy Kreugar (scary, but funny).

The film is all about a couple of murders that are being commited in the small town of Maine. No one knows who is doing them, but there is one person who thinks he knows. He thinks it could be the work of "It". He calls up a group of old childhood friends, and tells them "It" has returned. "It" was a clown, who lived in the sewers. He tried to have the group of kids killed when they were young, but he failed, and the kids killed him, but know he has returned. One by one, as he phones them, they all head to Maine, to stop "It", who they tried to stop before when they were kids.

The film starts off in present day, but when each of the frieds get the phone call off the man, we see flashbacks from each of them, from when they were kids, and how "It" tried to kill them. It's split into two parts. The first part is showing the kids' flashbacks, the second is showing the kids in present day, ready to stop "It" again.

The film does have a fair share of shocks, and there can be some quite creepy and disturbing scenes. But this is a great horror film... but the climax is bloody awful. "It" turns into a massive spider! Get real! Just miss the last 20 minutes or so.
