Movie Reviews of Stephen Hawking's Universe

Movie Review: Truth, Honesty, & Total Science
Summary: 5 Stars

Stephen Hawking is among the finest Cosmological minds that has ever graced this planet. In an event to change the way we understand and comprehend the mysteries of the universe we have six hours of non-stop Honest science.

Six episodes ranging from the first cosmolgical discoveries to how we are currently trying to define Dark Matter, leaves no stone unturned.

The series is much like Mr. Hawking's books where you start off simply and navigate into difficult and thought provoking territory challenging the reader (or in this case viewer) to put the pieces together. If you find entertainment in education this series is invaluable.

I am sure there are those who may find some of these concepts difficult (I am unashamedly one of them) however the program makes special note of these and documents it from all angles and from different approaches to get a more worldly view of the particular subject. Not to mention it being on DVD (and owning it as you hopefully will do) you can watch it over and over never being bored with the many new pieces you notice the next time through.

For those fearful of learning the very latest in astonomical and cosmological studies and questions you may want to try Carl Sagan's Cosmos, equally interesting although slightly outdated, is an excelent foundation for many of the concepts elaborated on with this series.

With wonderful computer animated sequences and an all star scientific community cast I recomend this series to those out there willing to challenge not only their own minds but their beliefs in an attempt to get to the bottom of how everything began.

Movie Review: Best of its kind.
Summary: 5 Stars

This is an absolutely superlative work that tells the story of Cosmology through 1997. I do not share the view that the work was framed poorly. It has a feel that is packaged to relate to people that are too young to collect Social Security, and that obviously disturbs the stewed prune set. If you are not scared of an entertaining unfolding of the ultimate story of humans pondering the most basic of all questions, you will not be sorry you spent the money. If you happen to be a parent or educator, you will find no better tool to send young people on the path of considering how the Universe began.

Movie Review: Best you'll find on DVD
Summary: 5 Stars

I'd agree with another reviewer of this work that it does, in fact, lack the desirable element of the visual in its explication of what indeed are the truly profound, complex theories and concepts of cosmologists and physicists--but not only for the purpose of enjoyment but also to aid in the elucidation of inherently counter-intuitive ideas. That being said, I should say that as something of an obsessed dillitante on these subjects--time, universe, et al.--this collection is about as in-depth and informative as you will, to date, find anywhere.

Movie Review: Lasting Topics for Kids and Adults alike.
Summary: 5 Stars

Very informative and interesting. Thinking that the universe is the best topic to foster a kid's love of math and science, I bought these DVD for a seven-year-old boy, who I expect will watch them for years. Maybe, too profound. But isn't it that the universe all starts from a singularity? BY THE WAY, amazon.com is the best online shopping service. Very easy to cancel items, though I usually purchase them later on. I have no problem with their international shipping. Good job, Amazon.com****** +*****.

Movie Review: THE BEST DVD of ALL TIME!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

What an amazing feat this dvd is. It explains all about the top theories in physics today in an articulate way. It is almost like a translation of Stephen W. Hawking's most famous book: "A Brief History of Time". I recommend Hyperspace for anyone who was interested in this dvd. Dr. Michio Kaku, the author of Hyperspace, is featured in this dvd. He is the guy talking about superstrings.
