Movie Review: Good, family movie

If you are looking for a thriller, go someplace else. If you are looking for a sexy, romance filled film, go someplace else. If you are looking for a good, wholesome film to watch with your family (and never, not once, have to shield your kids' eyes or cover their ears) then Princess Diaries 2 is for you. This movie has comedy, a little suspense, and a fun edge of romance. Plus, it has Julie Andrews - need we say more? As a bonus to the Julie Andrews fans of the world, she sings in this movie - although pitched very low and not the usual soprano that you are used to, you will thoroughly enjoy her very familiar voice! She is the epitome of class and although she is in real life a Dame, she will have you believing that she really is a queen.Movie Review: Great DVD

Julie Andrews gives a really risky and full performance. The transfer is really beautiful and the sound is great in 5.0 surround. The movie is very long, and many would say overproduced, but enough about what has already been said about it for the last 35 years. This is a great show of Ms. Andrews' talents with many many huge production numbers. Among my favorites are "Burlington Bertie", "My Ship", "The Saga of Jenny" and "Limehouse Blues". Michael Kidd did great work, with Julie really putting out in dance numbers. A perfect addition to a film library...the big numbers are all right there to be seen in the best possible way. love production values and glorious technicolor...you will find
a great deal to love in this film. If you KNOW you do not like
musicals...leave this on the self for someone else, because it
is the grandaddy of ALL musicals...with a large serving of
great material...the usual failings of a biographical film,
and you just have to embrace the whole. I hope that you do...
you will NOT be sorry. You will be ENTERTAINED.

I DON'T CARE WHAT ANYONE SAYS THIS MOVIE IS A HIT. WITH A STRUGLING WOMAN(JULIE ANDREWS) TRING TO UNDERSTAND THAT SHE DOES NOT HAVE TO BE THE BEST TO BE THE BEST. ILL ADMIT SOME TIMES IN THE MOVIE YOU MIGHT FEEL SAD BHUT THAT ONLY LASTS A SEC. I LOVE TO WATCH ALL THE SOMGS OVER AND OVER AGAIN! I LOVE THESE SONGS THE MOST: PICADILLY, PHISITION, THE SAGA OF JENNY, AND BURLINGTON BURTIE. BUT JULIE SINGS MANY OTHER SONGS WHICH I JUST ADORE. Yes, this film is long, yes the screenplay is a bit weak, but WHO is on the screen almost the ENTIRE film brilliantly acting, singing and dancing in 150 different costumes?? Julie Andrews!
If you like Julie Andrews, you will LOVE this film! This film showcases her talents like no other film. She is TERRIFIC! The DVD quality is superb, and the extras are great. This is also a great film for fans of bigtime musicals! Not a big hit when it came out, but it has aged amazingly well.
