Movie Reviews of Star Wars Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980 & 2004 Versions, 2-Disc Widescreen Edition)

Movie Review: Stop lying to us.... amazon reviewers!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is the greatest thig to come out of Lucasfilm ltd. other than Star Wars and Indiana Jones since the Pixar computer (Also get Toy Story.) If you want to show your kids what you grew up with, this is it!!!

Movie Review: The Story's The Thing
Summary: 5 Stars

I wanted the original movie on DVD, and that's what I got. It doesn't bother me that it's not anamorphic. It doesn't bother me that it's letterbox.

I gave it 5 stars because I'm rating THE MOVIE, *NOT* the TECHNOLOGY. To paraphrase Shakespeare, the story's the thing.

Movie Review: Worth buying.
Summary: 5 Stars

I absolutely HATE the "special editions". Lucas ruined his own movies. The image quality on the originals may not be the greatest, but it's better than the old, worn out VHS tapes I have. When played on an HDTV, you will notice tons of grain, and they are not in anamorphic widescreen. The fact that they are not formatted for HDTV's is minimal, as the XBox 360 is able to fit them to the screen if you select "letterboxed zoom".

The special editions on the other hand, look amazing. The color is vivid, and there is no visible grain! They look so much better than the originals in this set, you would swear they were HD DVD's!

Here's to hoping that some day the originals will be remastered, unedited, and released on HD DVD. If quality HD DVD copies of the original cuts are released, I will buy them. I don't care how greedy Lucas is (I'm not the fool that rushed, and bought the crappy 2004 DVD set). I will buy them. It is Star Wars, after all.

Movie Review: Original Trilogy
Summary: 5 Stars

This is what many, many fans have been waiting for. The DVD release of the Original Star Wars Trilogy that did not have the additions of the Special Edition release. The quality of the movie is what you come to expect of a DVD and the special features are all right. Doubtful you will see this on Blu Ray or HD-DVD anytime soon though, needless to say.

Movie Review: Original edit good, new version horrible
Summary: 4 Stars

It's amazing how George Lucas went from genius to bozo in just a few years. The "improved" star wars is unwatchable. Horrible. I didn't know the best movie of all time could be butchered this badly.
