Movie Reviews of Star Wars: Clone Wars - Volume Two

Movie Review: Cooler than the actual films? Yep
Summary: 5 Stars

Many people were disappointed when the long talked about Clone Wars, mentioned way back in 1977 was never actually on screen. Episode II had the start of it, Episode III had the end. Rather than filming it, George Lucas got Genndy Tartakovsky, creator of Dexter's Laboratory and Samurai Jack to create little animated episodes. Volume 1 was released awhile ago in at least 20 3 minute episodes. Volume 2 has I believe 5 but the length is longer, making it more of an episode.

Volume 2 starts with the end of the resolution of the cliffhanger in Volume 1 where General Grievous was really giving hell to a group of Jedi. A group of clones comes in and saves the survivors only Grievous escapes. Anakin returns home and finds Padme, only he's getting frustrated at how they have to hide the fact they're together.

Anakin and Obi-Wan end up on a planet where Obi-Wan has to do a vision quest where he has to test himself. There he finds the Droid Army doing something rather nasty to the males of the planet. General Grievous attacks Coruscant with a full-on attack with the Droid Army. Yoda and Windu in the heat of battle realize it's just a diversion: Grievous plans to kidnap Palpatine. Then we end this chapter which'll directly tie into Episode III's opening.

Genndy's animation style is all over this as you can obviously tell the creator of Samurai Jack is behind this. Granted it's a little weird to get over the animation style and the character designs but just like Samurai Jack you just say forget it and go along with it. Lightsaber battles are of course quite fast although maybe too fast.

In Revenge of the Sith, both Mace Windu and Yoda had problems with Palpatine and Emperor, respectively, yet after watching this you're like "did they get less powerful in the movie or something?" It's either Genndy's need to show Jedi extreme badassness or it's George being lazy in his script. We tend to lean toward the latter though right?

The voice acting is the same as last time: everyone besides the 2 lovers is good. Mace Windu and Obi-Wan in particular sound just like their movie counterparts. Palpatine though bugs me especially in Darth Sidious mode(this is so not a spoiler, people).

For people looking to get the full Star Wars experience, you can't go wrong than this. In fact, you'd probably say it's more Star Wars than the actual Star Wars movies.
