Movie Review: WOW - what can I say that hasn't already been said??!

Since other reviewers have already extensively covered the contents of these discs, let me add instead what stood out to me: 1) the design of the packaging, 2) the DVD menu interface, and 3) the series itself!
1) The packaging is AWESOME. Distinctive and futuristic in that fabulous Sci-Fi Era way, while still being entirely utilitarian. It holds the DVDs securely and safely stowed inside the plastic shell.
2) The menu interface is great ~ one of the best I've seen on a DVD in a long while. Easy to navigate and filled with little features I didn't expect to find, like trailers for each episode. WOW!
3) Obviously if I wasn't a die-hard ST fan I wouldn't have spent the money on the entire first season. ;-) However this really IS a great show, with far more morals and far LESS gratuitous sex and violence than what is on TV today. It is an adult show that I don't feel guilty letting my kids watch with me.
I HIGHLY recommend this. If I could give this 10 stars I would.

People certainly have their reservations about the Star Trek universe, but they should not judge the original series for the transgressions of later, inferior products. Simply stated, you should own this DVD, as well as the 2 seasons which follow it. This series has influenced a generation of television writers, actors, and authors. Though people may look back and laugh at it because of it's simplicity and tendency to take itself seriously, many of these people laugh at it, and parody it, because they respect it so much.
The sad thing is, many people have never even seen this series. Most younger people who watch shows like Futurama and South Park have seen the later incarnations of Star Trek, but not the original series. What's ironic is that the aforementioned shows have been seriously influenced by Star Trek. If you have never seen this show, I would recommend buying this DVD on a whim. The content is still strong after all these years and you will not disappointed. Plus, its just interested to see how influential the show really was. After watching this you will see the show's influence everywhere.
If you have seen the series, then you know how important, and well-conceived this product is, and undoubtedly if you have the cash, you're springing for this! Kidding of course. If you are a fan of this show, then by all means pick up this box set. The bonus features are nothing to write home about, but they are worth watching once. Besides you shouldn't be getting this product for bonus features, you should get it just to own the complete series before they take it off the air forever.
