Movie Reviews of StakeoutMovie Review: Great Movie but the DVD offers nothing! Summary: 5 Stars
I awaited this DVD release along with the sequel and Down and Out in Beverly Hills. All three (3) of these movies offer nothing, not even the trailers were on these DVD's. Very dissapointing. Instead they put 2 trailers of other releases they have coming out. Anyhow, even though the DVD's have no special features what so ever, they do however have pretty good picture and sound. Stakeout has always been one of my favorite movies for it's campy-ness and I'm glad Touchstone finally dedicated to release it. 5 Stars for the Movie 4 Stars for the Picture & Sound 1 Star for the Special Features If you haven't seen this movie, pick it up.
Movie Review: Fun and exciting Summary: 5 Stars
Saw this film in the theaters when it was released. Watched it on upper-tier movies channels many times over the years and still bought the DVD.
A great buddy/cop pic. The usual bantering between partners and sundry other characters. Richard Dreyfus and Emilio Estevez do a good job. Aidan Quinn is excellent. And, though Madeline Stowe can do anything she wants and I'll still love her, I think her character here, Maria McGwire, is my favorite. Film also has Forrest Whitaker and Dan (the father from Wonder Years) Lauria as the other set of cop buddies which add comic relief.
Movie Review: Better than most cop thriller Summary: 5 Stars
Richard Dreyfuss is excellent as a cop on a stakeout (along with partner Emilio Estevez) of pretty Madeleine Stowe (they have to watch her house through the night), and he falls in love with her. Before the movie is over there's a big car chase and an exciting climax in a lumber mill with a killer (Aidan Quinn). It's pretty standard fare for this kind of cop movie, but the script is above average - especially the dialogue - and Dreyfuss's performance is right on target. A very entertaining movie; definitely worth a watch.
Movie Review: Stake out DVD Summary: 5 Stars
Wow another Madeleine Stowe movie! Richard Dreyfuss is getting too long in the tooth, but he does a great job, and Emilio Estevez is superb in his role, the other two bozo detectives are hilariously funny, but the end sort of drags out too long for what should have been a fairly quick resolution of the problem, but then again, directors and producers need to fill those minutes,
Movie Review: Stakeout is classic Dreyfuss! Summary: 5 Stars
What a great, well written faced paced film. Classic style elements create moments of humor which lead into some very tense, heart-hammering thrills. This is a must see film for those who enjoy the work of Richard Dreyfuss and follow this genre of "cop-film". Well done and worth owning.
