Movie Review: Brilliantly Orchestrated Insanity

Let's face it, this is not for everyone. It is easily dismissed by the casual observer as dumb, or weird. But never has stupidity or weirdness been concocted with such skill, with such originality or flair.
Take, for example, the primitive animation. This could easily be construed as a knock at the shabby standards of the time when Space Ghost originally aired. However, it could just as easily be interpreted as an indictment against modern technology. Even with the better animation that exists today, how many characters are made to seem as vibrantly real as Space Ghost? You can just feel the superficial egotism, the casual, self-absorbed ignorance of a typical tv talk show host wash over you in waves.
I mean, they keep on, using the same pictures OVER and OVER and OVER. The core of the depiction utilizes, what, a half dozen pictures? (the closeup, where he turns and smiles into the camera, is the essential-I don't know that you could make the same show without that one). But by use of these limited materials, and the brilliance of the guy supplying the voice, they make the character positively come to life!!!
This approach makes for comic gold when his evil twin arrives. Need him to seem wicked? Use the same then just pencil in a goatee. Maybe it's just me, but there is something I find hysterically funny about the evil twin's depiction.
Like I said, it's not for everybody. But if you DO like it, I'll wager you like it a lot. It combines deliberate stupidity with brilliant parody. I think it is safe to say that there is nothing like Space Ghost Coast to Coast.
