Movie Review: Lovely film
Summary: 5 Stars
I highly recommend this "gem" of a movie. Having lived in the south my entire life, I can truly appreciate what a wonderful film depiction this is of the southern life in some parts of the south. The scenery is gorgeous and the music is simply wonderful. If you want to see a film that doesn't rely on computer-generated graphics, this is a must see.Movie Review: songcatcher

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this movie,the 'hill songs' were captivating both the words, and meaning behind them and how beautiful they sounded.The struggle of the miners to live and keep their land and still feed their children was moving.I highly recommend this to anyone my husband watched it with me and even he liked it.Movie Review: Foot tapping.

It was the best movie I have seen in years. Unlike Artificial intelligence, the characters had character, the music was excellent, and the portrayals were marvelolus. ....Unfortunately some of the themes were adult, at that might leave some viewers to miss this spectacular production. story of a music professor in search of original mountain music in the Appalachian Mountains. Old songs sung and played as they were either written or passed down. Music played on fiddle, banjo's & Mountain dulcimer (the only musical instrument originating in the United States). Great entertainment for the lover of old time music.Movie Review: one of the best!

wonderful performances, scenery, music; the only detracting factor in this movie was that some of the social/political issues were rather heavy-handed, as if someone had said, "we need more drama and conflict here." i would have given it 4 1/2 stars if it were possible, but it is too good to rate only four!
