This is a movie about a young country girl going to a big college in California and meeting some cocky kid that turns the lives around for the whole family. So you can watch it once and figure it is B rate and the next time you see it better wait a couple years.
Summary of Son-In-Law
Middle America will never be the same when comedian Pauly Shore (ENCINO MAN) travels to the Midwest and becomes the SON-IN-LAW. Shore stars as Crawl, L.A.'s funkiest college student, who's hilariously out of his element when he spends Thanksgiving at the family farm of a straitlaced college co-ed (Carla Gugino -- SPY KIDS). Crawl's unlike anything the Midwesterners have ever seen -- outside the barn that is! But before long, Crawl's plowing his way into their hearts with his outrageous antics and offbeat attempts at farming. Get ready for a truckload of laughs and a half-ton of hysteria with this totally irreverent comedy!Even with Pauly Shore as the "star," this 1993 comedy is a bit better than you might think. Shore plays an insouciant college student asked by a friend (Carla Gugino) to pretend to be her fianc? over Thanksgiving break, thus discouraging a jerk back in her hometown from proposing. Shore's character agrees but is given a hard time by the girl's salt-of-the-earth family of farmers. The hero and Gugino's character actually have a crush on each other, and now that they have an opportunity to explore romance, their relationship is threatened by poor Pauly's tests of rural manhood. Shore aside, the strong cast--including Gugino and Lane Smith--lend this thing some credibility; and the script doesn't take any shortcuts in moving the characters beyond their assumptions about one another. --Tom Keogh
