Movie Reviews of Something's Gotta GiveMovie Review: Well Worth Your Time Summary: 5 Stars
This is a story about a playboy, played by Jack Nickelson and a middle age playwrite, played by Diane Keaton. Jack dates only the 'younger' women and Diane feels she is long past having any type of meanful sexual relationship with a man. Things were about to change for both of them when Jack begins dating Diane's daughter and they are introduced to each other.
When Jack finally takes the time to realize there is more to a woman than a young body, he begins to really see Diane for the wonderful woman she is and he starts to fall for her and she for him. This movie explores many factors of the middleage love affair and also brings out some downright laugh out loud moments concerning the middele age body, which I myself can relate to.
All in all this was a very enjoyable movie to watch and had one great ending. Recommended.
Movie Review: "Must Have", just got a new meaning ! Summary: 5 Stars
I probably would have pondered for an unbearable amount of time, if asked "What do you think about Diane Keaton (ladies first) and Jack Nicholson in a romantic (comedy ?) movie together". The casting has got to get ten stars for placing these two in these parts. You almost HAVE to believe that Diane Keaton wrote this thing in the future and returned to do the movie (or maybe the play, that became the movie ?). In any case I have never seen all individuals fit their characters so well and this in a fantastic motion picture. As Will once said "I GOTTA GET ME ONENA DEES"! What I can't understand is this DVD wasn't availble when he said it. What could he possibly have been talking about ? No BS, Wade Arnold
Movie Review: Diane Keaton was worth the whole price of a ticket Summary: 5 Stars
I enjoyed the movie very much. It is always a pleasure to experience a movie with a happy ending. It was wonderful just to sit back and watch two of the best actors of their generation do their thing. It was also wonderful to watch those "great faces" with all the lines and wrinkles, but also so full of life and expression and untimately beauty, especially Diane Keaton. While I enjoyed the commentary by the director and Diane, I found Jack offensive. His crack about the "large" reason the director had to cut away after Amanda/Marin gets off him at the beginning of the movie was disgusting. It just made him seem like the old letch he plays in this movie. The commentary however, is not necessary to enjoying the movie.
Movie Review: Something's Gotta Give Summary: 5 Stars
My husband and I laughed outloud at this movie! Yes, both actors play somewhat shallow characters, but genuine affection does 1begin to develop between them in a way which seems credible. In the end, you sort of feel Nicholson is so shallow she shouldn't want to have any sort of friendly relationship with him, but this isn't a movie about reality, it's a movie about revenge -- revenge on all the stupid Hollywood movies that make adult women seem obsolete. The director could have toned down some of Keaton's high-pitched hysteria about men being attracted to her, but generally, we thought this movie was good enough we said to each other, "Let's see it a second time, sometime soon!"
Movie Review: 21st Century, Affair To Remember Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great movie starring the notorious Jack Nicholson and hilarious Diane Keaton. The plot is simple and has a similar flair to An Affair To Remember (Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr). Nicholson and Keaton are two older single socialites who try to avoid reality. Nicholson avoids it by dating younger women, and Keaton avoids it through writing plays. When Nicholson develops a heart condition, Keaton must tolerate taking care of him in her Hampton home. The two are oil and water, but they slowly begin to blend and find that they have more in common then they would ever admit. It's a cute movie about living in the moment. I'd recommend it to everyone! Absolutly FANTASTIC!!
