Movie Reviews of Something's Gotta GiveMovie Review: Love When You Least Expect It! Summary: 5 Stars
Harry Sanborn drives to the home of his latest lady under thirty. He plans to spend the weekend alone with Marin, until her mother and aunt arrive unexpetedly. Erica Barry is astonished that her daughter is dating Sanborn, but doesn't make him leave. Just as Harry (played by Jack Nicholson)starts kissing Marin,(played by Amanda Peet) he has a heart attack. Erica performs CPR until the medics arrive. Harry thinks he is ready to leave the hospital, but becomes dizzy and faints. Keanu Reeves plays Dr. Mercer, who orders Harry to stay nearby for a few days. He ends up staying with Erica for a few days. Erica is a famous playwright played by Diane Keaton. She has writer's block at first, but she begins to be inspired by her experience with Harry and starts writing a play. In the meantime, she discovers herself having feelings that she thought were over a long time. The heart attack saved two lives, not one. This story is a beautifully written romantic comedy by Nancy Myers. I recommend it to an adult audience. The acting was brilliant!
Movie Review: Don't underestimate this movie! :- ) Summary: 5 Stars
This fun, silly movie would be a great date movie. 2 icons of the Baby Boom generation visiting all the relationship stereotypes we've grown up with over the years - and finding each other.
I could have lived without Jack Nicholson's naked butt, but hey, the more things change ... the more they stay the same. What can you say about Nicholson? He's fresh, fun, charming, warm and heart-rending in the role of the over-the-hill playboy who finally falls in love. Keaton is adorable, as always, and I could fall in love with her myself.
Keanu Reeves is the proverbial heart-throb, but it is true that being with someone younger than you doesn't make you feel young - it makes you feel old. There's something to be said for sticking with your own cohort. There's more to relate to.
I loved this movie. It was a delightful change of pace, charming, fun and sweet.Little Buddha
Movie Review: Keaton Shines in Great Comedy! Summary: 5 Stars
Something's Gotta Give is one of the year's best films and best comedies as it teams up Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton, who seemed to love every minute they shared onscreen. Nicholson plays a man who only dates girls under 30 and is shocked to find he can fall in love with a woman his own age, played by Diane Keaton, who has never looked better. She gives her best performance since she won an Oscar for Annie Hall and should be on her way to another as a very career sucessful woman who has no confidence with men. It is great to see her reaction to both Nicholson's and Keanu Reeves' character. Nicholson and Keaton light up the screen with every scene they are in and Amanada Peet and Reeves do very well in their supporting role, as does the underused Frances McDormand as Keaton's sister. Nancy Meyers, who had a huge hit with What Women Want, does a much better job here and makes for a great adult romantic comedy featuring actors over 50. A great film that will be remembered.
Movie Review: Best performances by Diane Keaton and Jack Nicholson! Summary: 5 Stars
The best I've seen in a Romantic Comedey in years, especially with Diane Keaton and Jack Nicholson. I can honestly say Diane Keaton was Brilliant, caring, and amazing. Now Jack Nicholson was great, no surprises, he was Jack. To then see Diane Keaton acting with Jack and Keanu as a love and sex interest to them was fantastic. Also the bare it all scene by Diane was very surprising, hey if yah got it, why not show it. As Keaton said it doesn't matter how old a person is it is what you feel inside what counts. Diane is adorable, caring and loving and fell in love with someone who stole her heart. She couldn't have played the part any better as she made us laugh and cry as if it were real and she was getting hurt. When I heard her telling (Amanda)Marin, don't be afraid to let someone in ,I did and had the time of my life, go out have fun enjoy yourself, life is what you make it. I cried and laughed, overall I enjoyed this movie immensely, it was excellent.
