Good movie. have always liked it. Cheesy, but still one of my faves

Movie Review: A stroll down memory lane...
Summary: 3 Stars

I saw this movie on FMC the other night (for the first time in YEARS). I remembered why I liked it so much, though I probably liked it for all the "wrong" reasons.

First off, the movie had Erin Gray and Diane Lane in it. Now, what's not to like about that (especially when I was a 10 year-old kid, or even now, for that matter!)? Plus, a lot of the movie was filmed in my hometown of Kennesaw, Ga. (literally a 1-minute ride by bicycle from my house). It was quite the deal to ride downtown and watch them film the movie (in particular the restaurant scene where the Corvette is stripped and the opening scene where Kenny falls out of the window of the restroom). Plus, a friend of my brother had a small bit in the movie (again, the restaurant scene), so it was neat to see that scene again. I remember when the movie opened in the theaters, I think my whole hometown -- literally -- was there.

Nostalgia aside, this isn't a great movie. The acting is so-so, the story line's pretty predictable, and the language from one of the children is atrocious (that caught all of us by surprise. Remember, when this film was released, blatant cussing in a movie was still frowned on -- especially by an actor portraying a 12 year-old).

Still, it was/is a cute movie. It's neat to see Anthony Michael Hall as a young actor (though the word at the time from those who were involved in the shooting of the movie was that he needed his a** kicked for being so snooty and, generally, obnoxious towards everyone -- he was acting like quite the spoiled little "Child movie star"). And, I must reiterate, that my "lusts" over Diane Lane and Erin Gray weren't just passing fancies fueled by raging hormones. They were then and still are absolutely drop-dead gorgeous.
