Movie Reviews of Sister Act

Movie Review: The Hippest Church Choir You Will Ever Hear
Summary: 5 Stars

Talk about a turnabout situation. Any of you who have seen The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie will remember Maggie Smith playing a rather unorthodox teacher in Scotland who angered her superiors by her inordinate method of influencing her young pupils and rebelling against authority. Now, as Mother Superior, her straight-laced character has to deal with a lounge singer disguised as a nun who has the same characteristics Miss Brodie had! I loved Sister Act and Sister Act 2 very much; both left me in good spirits with rollicking music, mad chase scenes, a transformed choir and a head nun with new ideas on how to run a convent.

Movie Review: I will Follow Him
Summary: 5 Stars

Just take a look at this brilliant cast. All of them are true artist and i believe the last film that Mary Wicks made before she died. She is unfailing in her comic-relief nun who was in my mind, the most expressive comedy actress ever. The film itself is light with a breath of fresh air. The re-worked songs for the nuns is outstanding with a beautiful orchestra to back them up. This is another Hollywood hit film that is a joy to watch over and over again. Or just skip to the songs that you like. The sound in DVD is wonderful especially if you have a 5.1 or 7.1 system.

Movie Review: Hail Mary and Holy rockin'
Summary: 5 Stars

What a riot! A black cabaret motown singer witnesses her boyfriend killing someone - 'I've never seen a dead guy before! - I mean, you see the odd body on the freeway, but that's it'. She ends up under witness protection at a convent. She is predictably bored with the monastic life, but soon finds her niche - taking over the dilapidated choir. She fuses religion with the spirit of motown and gets the nuns singing. They prepare for a visit of the pope - but the mob are also on her trail. Which will prevail in the swinging and thrilling musical climax?

Movie Review: Finally
Summary: 5 Stars

Finally! The blasphemous sequel has been doing it's rounds on the DVD format for too long now, without even a reference to this great original.

All I can say is: It's Whoopi!

If you don't know what that means, don't bother with this film, if you do, get it, and get it quick.

Better still, there's a 2-disc set on the way with the sequel, and although that is not a good film by any means, it is still a good thing to add to your collection. Buy it when it eventually comes out!

Movie Review: WHATTA NUN MADNESS!
Summary: 5 Stars

This has to be one of the most hilarious movie ever!, I remember this from my childhood, and I definetly still enjoy it today!, what a great movie, a lounge singer Dolores Van Cartier hidding in a convent as Sister Mary Clarence hahahaha!, whoo hooo!, who came with this idea, a comedic genious!, all the movie surrounded by 60's music another great fact, this movie is timeless, classic, and a must have in your collection!
