Movie Reviews of Silver StreakMovie Review: Adventure on the Silver Streak Summary: 5 Stars
Early in "Silver Streak," George Caldwell (Gene Wilder) claims that he is taking the train from Los Angeles to Chicago because he wants to be bored. That is absolutely not what happens, though, as he becomes enmeshed in a 2000-mile-long murder mystery that has a smashing resolution. The cast is outstanding, and the movie is the best one in which Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor team up. The film appeals to a wide range of audiences, as it is part mystery, part comedy, part drama, and part adventure. I greatly enjoyed "Silver Streak" when I first saw it on TV in 1981 and it is still one of my favorite movies ever.
Movie Review: Greatest Comedy Ever Summary: 5 Stars
Silver Streak is the greatest comedy ever. Gene Wilder is George. George is on his way to Chicago by train from L.A. On his way he falls in love with Hilly played by the beautiful Jill Clayburgh. While on the train George witnesses a murder which leads to trouble for George who is thrown of the train by the actual murderurs. While George is off the train he meets Grover played by the comic genuis Richard Pryor. This is when the movie realy gets good. I will stop there not to give to much away. I have waited a long time for Silver Streak to be released on DVD. I hope you will enjoy the movie as much as I have.
Movie Review: The film moves along smoothly , keeping you guessing Summary: 5 Stars
This film catches Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor as a great double act , with great support from Jill Clayburgh .
It does owe something to Hitchcock's style in a very good way , but the humor is a bit more way out . The characters find themselves in desperate situations but are able to adapt well and the viewer shares in the tension .
Gene Wilder plays wound up people very well .
This comedy is involving and highlights a great script together with a very effective cast .
A little seen gem . Buy the film and enjoy the ride .
Movie Review: Silver Streak Summary: 5 Stars
A diverting, infectious Hitchcock spoof mixing romance, intrigue and murder on a cross-country train trip, Hiller's "Streak" was a box-office smash in 1976. Pairing Wilder and Pryor for the first time (they'd make three pictures together), the movie gets a lot of comic mileage out of their nutty rapport, though Pryor doesn't show until the film is half over. Still, with a solid cast including McGoohan as the villainous Roger Devereau, Ned Beatty as a federal agent and Ray Walston as an old-time hood, "Silver Streak" is a fun, zany ride.
Movie Review: Great comedic pairing Summary: 5 Stars
This movie is not only a comedic homage to Alfred Hitchcock, it is a gathering of great character actors. Ned Beatty, Patrick McGoohan, Ray Walston, and Scatman Carruthers to name a few. The movie is well written by Colin Higgins with enough twists and hilarity for everyone! Starring Gene Wilder as hapless victim and Richard Pryor as hapless saviour and Jill Clayburgh as damsel in distress, this movie never stops in comedy or mystery. Stock up on popcorn and spend an evening with a great comedic cast.
