Movie Reviews of Sigur Ros: Heima

Movie Review: thoughts of a sigur ros fan
Summary: 5 Stars

Essentially this video captures a lot of what goes through the hearts and minds of the band members who comprise Sigur Ros. You tour different regions, landscapes, towns, and facets of Icelandic culture as the band speaks to you. At every stop and in between these moments where the bandmembers share their thoughts the band plays a set and you get to experience some of the songs from these sets.

Pretty much a must for a fan and a good recommendation for some of the artistically minded individuals for a watch.

Movie Review: Superbly made music doc and concert footage
Summary: 5 Stars

Beautifully filmed and expertly edited, this is one of the best music documentary/tour films I've seen. It delivers great performances in wonderful settings, and was made with clear affection towards the land and the people of Iceland.

The 2nd disk is a great bonus that may well end up getting more play than the main disk, as it presents all of the performances uninterrupted by snippets of interview, as they are in the main documentary, as well as some additional material that didn't make the main film.

Movie Review: Sigur Ros - Heima, the DVD
Summary: 5 Stars

Icebergs melting backwards, quiet marching bands accompanying a band, kites and a beautiful National Park in Iceland. What more could one want? Oh - the amazing music of Sigur Ros. There's no other band like them, and this DVD captures their unique presence - the concert is given for Icelanders after Sigur Ros returns from overseas touring. The DVD blends concert footage with scenes of Iceland and minglings with Icelanders. It is peaceful, optimistic and ethereal. Just watch and meditate and be glad for Sigur Ros.

Movie Review: only "Beautiful" can describe it
Summary: 5 Stars

There's no way you can watch this and not be blown away. I think it's awesome to see a band put their money into making a DVD with such high quality. The footage is all from HD cameras, with absolutely no home camcorder footage, so it never loses that feel. Even when they perform out in open fields, the audio quality is crystal clear (and actually better than the studio albums). The overall mood it puts you in is much more powerful than any music DVD I've ever owned.
This DVD is worth every penny.

Movie Review: Absolutely Phenomenal!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

This DVD is absolutely amazing. The imagery is stunning and the music is beatiful and ethereal, extremely appropriate as you are watching the footage from concert feeds from widespread icelandic towns. Admittedly I was already a huge sugr ros fan beforehnad, but this is the most amazing documentary of a band that ever existed. I would recommend this as a gift to anyone, regardless of their musical preferences. The music is awe inspiring and the video footage is too amazing to not be seen by everyone!
