Movie Reviews of Sid & NancyMovie Review: Not a direct portrayel, but compelling at best Summary: 4 Stars
In this semi-accurate portrayel of 70's punks Sid Vicious and Nancy Spungen, played by Gary Oldmann and Chloee Web, Sex Pistols bassist Sid finds love with American Junkie Nancy, and become inseperable. They go through it all, eventually leading up to his heroin addiction. Alexs vision of the characters is shocking at times, displaying their trials and tribulations as a couple. They stay at the Chelsea Hotel in New York City, and end up getting in a nasty brawl, with Nancy waking up soaked in blood and collapsing in the bathroom, leaving the audience wondering "what happened?" there are many sides to the story and different versions as to what exactly happened. Its said that he was strung out on heroin and thats what drove him to stab her. He later on dies of an overdose. The ending is iffy, but oddly romantic in that sense.
Movie Review: A good movie but depressing Summary: 4 Stars
The is the story of Sid Vicious of the Sex Pistols and Nancy Spungen an American heroin addict. The movie pretty much is how they met and a lot of drugging and yelling. In it's own strange way it's compelling to watch but it's definitely not for everyone. Courtney Love had a very small part in it. I bet she had less than a minute on screen. Before she showed up I thought she would have been a great Nancy. If they made this five years later I bet she would have got the part.
If anyone is interested in reading about Nancy's childhood, her mother Deborah Spungen wrote a book "And I Don't Want to Live This Life". I read it years ago and thought it was pretty interesting.
Movie Review: Great movie but... Summary: 4 Stars
This movie was great, it followed the relationship between Sid Vicious and Nancy Spungen. Following their life between sex, punk, and drugs. It also shown how she tore him away from the sex pistols, and how he went solo. It has great music in it, and the actors sing most of their songs during the "gigs" and has some renactments from The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle. I would give this movie a 5 star rating but the end was really bad. The ending was 2 sided (the real event, when nancy really died in real life) and it was the major downside, because i definatly dissagree with it. Overall i definatly reccomend this to any Sex Pistols, or Sid Vicious fan.
Movie Review: good but......... Summary: 4 Stars
this was actually a pretty good movie. the reason i gave it a 4 was chloe webb! this woman drives me NUTS! why didn't this role go to courtney love? she would have been PERFECT for the role. gary oldman had a GREAT performance. another reason for the 4 was it was kinda long and not 100% truthful which would have been cool to see. my favorite scene was the dumpster one. i would have liked to have seen sid actually die in the movie. the sound quality kind of sucked! i say do a remake that would be so cool w/ all of the new technology and stuff we have today!
Movie Review: FOR THOSE WHO LOVE A HUMAN TRAIN WREAK Summary: 4 Stars
If you love watching a human train wreak, then this is your movie. The scenes are at times intense. Oldman plays an excellent junkie. The movie makes me wonder about us as a society that would produce individuals such as Sid and Nancy. The home scene with Nancy's parents was sad as the unhappy couple couldn't even fake acting civil. I was confused about the production of "My Way" in the middle of the movie. Was this a short feature they actually did, or was this supposed to be the workings of Sid' mind?
