Movie Reviews of Sid & Nancy

Movie Review: THE Punk makes a great film topic!
Summary: 5 Stars

Sid was THE Punk. His story is all important to anyone who wants to know what it was like to be a Punker in the 1970's. The film is well made and beautifully acted by Oldman and Webb. While I think I've heard somewhere along the line that John Lyden (Johnny Rotten) did not like the effort this film still comes across as accurate and sympathetic to a pair of punk kids that may not have been the most deserving of that sympathy.

The Ramones came first and The Clash may have been "The Only Band That Mattered" but it was Sid and the Pistols that will always be remembered as THE Punks. This film helps to confirm this truism.

Movie Review: Punk Super Star Sid Viciousis Great !
Summary: 5 Stars

This film got everything you could want.
Gary Oldham is great as super punk star Sid, well Sid was much more handsome, aside from that he does a fantastic job with Sid's character.
Nancy is played by Chloe Webb a very pretty actress who does a great job of imitating Nancy's husky nasal voice but she's really too pretty to play Nancy.
There are lots of scenes that are really hilarious and it does a good job of taking the viewer back to the late 70's and height of punk rock revolution.
I recommend this to anyone who wants to see a good, sexy romance with a not so happy ending.
Great classic!

Movie Review: great movie
Summary: 5 Stars

Wonderful movie!Very hard to find in my area, unless you order online.Gary Oldman amazingly is a dead ringer (no pun intended) for Sid Vicious at the beginning (although in most of the film he looks nothing like him, except for the hair). The only I didn't like what how unclear they made his death at the end.If you don't know much about Sid,the ending is confusing. They way Nancy died was confusing, too (You can't really tell whether he stabbed her,or if she ran into the knife). But it does add mystery to the movie at the same time, which is why I rated it a 5.

Movie Review: I Have Not That Much To Say...
Summary: 5 Stars

The word "Punker" was a word created by the media of these so called "Punk Rock" bands of today that you see all over television (MTV) and Nirvana was never a Punk band. This movie is one of my top three movies even hough I heard people online saying that some of the scenes in the movie never really happend in real life and were just added but I do not know if that is true or not. Well anyways, this is a great movie to look back on a legendary Punk Rock legend from the 70's named Sid Vicous. That is all I really have to say.

Movie Review: The Dark Myth of Sid and Nancy's Toxic Love
Summary: 5 Stars

An autobiographical account of the doomed relationship between Sid and Nancy (precursors to Kurt and Courtney in pop culture lore) ... who met their demise in New York City after a binge of drugs and booze. Gary Oldman recreates the viscous demons that made Sid a Rock 'n Roll icon after his death. Chloe Webb is a brilliant Nancy (actually Courtney Love was rumored to have auditioned for the part in her early 20's) ... who helps Sid's demise even more.
