Movie Review: A must have for your yoga dvd collection

I have many yoga video's by many different teachers. This is my first one of Shiva Rea's. I am impressed. As our bodies and mindsets are different each day, I love having the ability to program exactly what I need for each practice. The matrix is very easy to use. Shiva gives both english and sanskrit names for each pose. NOT for the beginner. Although she suggests modifications, majority of practice would be extremely challenging for someone new to yoga. The music is soothing, the visuals are beautiful.....I'm very pleased with this purchase and anticipate using this video often.Movie Review: Captivating !!!...and great for Improving backbends.

I bought this dvd about a year ago, and to this date i have nothing negative to say about it. Fist the scenery in wich it was filmed is breathtaking and then Shiva herself is just amazing. She is truely a professional, she is poised and confident in what she teaches. I had wanted to focus on improving my backbends and this dvd offers two levels for that: one is regular and the other is intermediate. (there are also two other flows that work on twists, front stetches, side stetches, leg stretches and meditation.) Shiva does a wonderful job with flowing from one pose into the other with her soothing voice. I have to say, the intermediate backbend flow is not easy, its very challenging, but because Shiva gradually introduces you into preparation for backbends, i was able to do it and keep up without hurting my back, thus improving my backbends a great deal And now i can do what she does. Then...there are the breathing execises that really quiet the mind and slows the heart rate. I also love the "Meditative Flow" sequence, this one i can do right befor going to bed and be guaranteed a good nights sleep. To top it off the "Matrix" feature, wich allows you to customize your own flow is fabulous, because of that you can never get bored really since you can change your routine according to your time and needs. For me, Shiva is inspirational and she knows her stuff. I recommend this dvd to all, even beginners. Just work at your own capabilities. I really like this video. I am not an expert at yoga, but I can do these excercises (modified to my abilities). I love to do the lunar workout when I am feeling stressed. The shoulder stands are so much fun to me and Shiva does a great job at them! If you are new to yoga and see Shiva in her pretzel poses, you might be intimidated. But, if you follow through with the exercise you will be surprised at your accomplishments. I always feel so proud of myself when I am finished. If you are just beginning, this can be a bit much. I recommend it for someone familiar with yoga. I also love the 'matrix'. I can adjust the workouts to how I am feeling, or just leave them in the order they are in.Movie Review: Shiva Rea Lunar Fow Yoga

This was first time I bought her DVD. I liked that there were not only asana but breathing the practices with each lesson. However there were some asanaa which were too diffculut for me. ( I have been practice Yoga for 4 years)Movie Review: A Piece of Shakti

Because I was so happy with Yoga Shakti, I bought the Lunar Flow & Trance Dance DVDs. So far, the Lunar Flow is taken directly from the more expansive Shakti DVD (same exact video footage). The Lunar Flow is great for folks just getting interested in Shiva Rea, but if you want the best bang for your buck, get the Shakti DVD. Both offer the yoga matrix (best thing I've ever seen for keeping a fitness video fresh).
