Great film! I love her. She's quirky and honest. When she talks to the camera, she's talking to you, her best friend.
You are reminded who you are too. Who you were before husbands, children etc.
Watch it with the gals, wearing sweats, no make-up and food you won't eat in public!

I was so happy to get Shirley Valentine on DVD....I had taped it years ago and had it in my collection, but the tape was no longer viewable. The DVD is clear and crisp and so enjoyable to watch. One of my all-time favorites.
Pauline Collins is just wonderful and hysterical.

I thought this was a real Euro comedy and loved every minute of the bouncing back of the dull marriage thoughts to the excitement of the affair, and back to spicing up the marriage. A woman with spunk! Saw the play and the movie is great. I guess it could be compared to Enchanted April which I also love. They were both about woman being smothered and wanting to get away. As I am 53 and married 30 years, my husband and I had just gotten back from Greece, Santorini, Mykonos, the city of Athens. Mykonos was a lovely town, I think if I shall ever leave my husband, I shall go there, too. The movie was like watching life. Funny and sad, but, wonderful.
