Movie Reviews of Shirley Valentine

Movie Review: Best movie for movie night at home.
Summary: 5 Stars

Shirley Valentine is a rare comedy. It is very funny, well written, well acted and does not rely on sex, obscenities or violence to capture the imagination.

It has a great message and isn't Shirley the kind of person we would all like to be?

There is one part of the movie where obsenities are used, but it is totally a joke, not a lurid scene at all.

Movie Review: Absolutely wonderful movie
Summary: 5 Stars

I saw this movie years ago and it is as wonderful as I remembered. It is not a "chick" movie. We all have regrets when we look at our lives in middle age. Shirley gets a chance to escape her boring life and reclaim her true fun-loving nature by living out one of her youthful dreams - a trip to Greece. Both Tom Conti and Pauline Collins are perfectly cast.

Movie Review: Great Movie
Summary: 5 Stars

I had seen this movie when it was first released and loved it. I bought the VCR cassette the first day it was released and watched it a couples of times a year until I afraid that it would wear out. Imagine my surprise and delight when I found it on DVD. Now I can start watching it several times a year again. Thank you for always having what I need.

Movie Review: A midlife Chick Flick
Summary: 5 Stars

I love this movie and all my 40-50 something women friends love this movie. I had it in VHS and was so happy when it came out as DVD so I could watch it again. We have Shirley Valentine parties where we invite women who haven't seen it over, serve wine and fall in love with Shirley all over again. A must watch movie for midlife crisis.

Movie Review: Love Shirley Valentine and finally the DVD
Summary: 5 Stars

This has been a favorite movie of mine since I first saw it in the theatre. (Friends have told me that on Broadway Pauline Collins was just as brilliant.) The author and filmmakers have opened up the movie really well, and each character is so real, funny and touching. If you haven't seen it, get it and watch it with a best friend.
