Movie Reviews of Shirley ValentineMovie Review: .Women, listen up! Summary: 5 Stars
For women of all ages, but most certainly for middle-aged and above, who have been or are married. You know when you're reading a good book or talking to a good friend and they just "get" everything you're feeling? There's hardly a better moment than that. Shirley Valentine is a keeper movie to pass among female friends and family. Men can watch, of course, but they're not likely to "get" it. Love it, love it, love it.
Movie Review: Inspiring and witty Summary: 5 Stars
Pauline Collins does a fantastic job of portraying this middle-aged, bored woman who finds a new life on a Greek island, away from the dreary and mundane existence of her home in England.
She becomes the person she had once been, but only after she leaves her present life behind. When she jumps into the ocean from the boat, it's the start of her transformation.
Sometimes I think I should do the same!
Movie Review: Best chick flick-EVER Summary: 5 Stars
I must be honest, I have the movie in VHS version. I wanted the DVD to make sure I will always have a working copy, as I love it and cannot count the times I have watched it. It is not only for women but is a wonderful film version of a stage play. Please give it a try if you are over 40 and need a lift, you will love the actors, theme and characters they play! Very funny and though-provoking.
Movie Review: Shirley Valentine Summary: 5 Stars
Very good movie that explores the frustration of a bored and neglected wife that takes action to change her life. Only after slipping away on holiday to Greece without telling her husband and deciding to stay there does her husband realise what he has lost and goes looking for her. Funny, sensitive and never a dull moment start to end. Joanna Lumly also makes a great addition to the movie.
Movie Review: Go Shirley! Summary: 5 Stars
I saw Shirley Valentine years ago and when a couple of girlfriends began planning a trip to Greece, I decided I need to have the DVD. It is a good movie about relationships and unfortunately has a lot of issues that many marriages still have; i.e., growing stale, not spontaneous, taking for granted, etc. It is definitely a woman's movie but men could learn a lot from watching also.
