Movie Review: I Fancy "Shag"
Summary: 5 Stars
This movie was probably greenlighted after the success of "Dirty Dancing". All I can say is this movie has it all over that slick article. What I like about it is that it feels real. You're transported into a time and place and it feels authentic. In this case it's Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in the Summer of '63 and what I like is that this film does not resort to cliche in depicting the South during that turbulent time in our history. The four leads are full-bodied characters written and performed wonderfully nonesomuch as Annabeth Gish as Pudge. Only through some plot contrivance would you consider her fat. Her performance at the shag contest is ebullient and puts Jennifer Grey to shame. I thought the music in the film was great but it's been pointed out by other reviewers that some of the songs have been deleted and substituted. I guess that would be my only debit to an otherwise perfect flick.Movie Review: Greatest Movie from 1989!

Wow, I laugh because I went to see this movie in the theater with my 3 best pals the summer before our freshman year of high school. That was 19 years ago! It had such an affect on us...the music, dancing, the romance and costumes! We wanted to be there and Shag! We all picked a character which, funny, followed us through life. I honeymooned in Myrtle Beach! It made you love South Carolina! Spring of 2008 3 out of the 4 of us are meeting there to watch the S.O.S. competition! 19 Years later we are finally headed down to Myrtle Beach! This movie meant the world to us then 14&15 year olds...it's a simple must see beach movie that will win your heart over....and make you wanna Shag!!!!
ps-I would love to see a part 2! -Kenny Ortega is also the choreographer to High School Musical!

Okay...you all think you are fans? My friends and I loved this movie so much (it released to VHS when we were in high school) and watched it so many times that we had our own last fling before going off to college and spent a week in Myrtle Beach. (Unfortunately, life isn't always as fun as a movie but we still had a good time!) Yes, the movie is cheesy, but everyone in it is so completely likeable. The music, the dancing, the outfits, the southern drawls...what's not to like? Even my mom loves this movie! It definitely fits under the category of "Chick Flick" but we all need movies to watch with our girlfriends... what ever happened to some of these fun actors? If you have not seen this movie, I highly recommend you try it out!Movie Review: Order a Pizza, grab some Coca Colas and watch this one!!!

This movie is so much fun! I have a copy of my own, and one to borrow to my friends, since it takes too long to explain everything I love about this "feel-good take me back to the early 1960's teenage way of life" movie, before Viet Nam and before President Kennedy was killed. It's like Mystic Pizza, Ferris Bueller, Animal House and Dirty Dancing all rolled into one. And wait'll you see Tyrone Power, Jr. as Harley in the movie! The cast is wonderful, the cars are cool, the dancing is out of this world, and the script writers have captured the way teens communicated. It's both hokey at times and laugh out loud funny, too. You'll find yourself rooting for darling Pudge in the dance contest and wanting to learn the Shag. "It's the most fun!"Movie Review: My favorite of movie of all time!

I wacthed this movie for the first time when I was 12 in the summer of 1990. I purchased it a few years back. Like everyone elses opinion, I have watched this movie over and over again. Definate chick flick. This movie makes me feel good everytime I watch it. I cannot wait to travel to South Carolina to feel the way the girls did. I have one question, a few people have listed that there was a different version(regarding the music). Maybe I can't remember the difference from 10 years ago. I would like to see an original if it does exist. Someone please email me if you know more about the original at tijjo@hotmail.com. Agin a great movie!!!!
