Movie Reviews of Seven Faces of Dr. Lao

Movie Review: Life affirming, funny and charming
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a wonderful film for all ages. It is a fantasy, but it's more than just a fantasy. It has elements of religion, philosophy, love and life. Tony Randall is wonderful in all 7 faces, and as himself once too. The stop motion monsters are cheesy, but that just adds to the charm of this film. If you have children, this is a wonderful film for them, too. No nudity, no swearing, no sex, nothing really objectionable. Oh, some fairly mild scares, but even that isn't really violent. A wonderful film.

Movie Review: The life: the eternal spinning wheel of the mythic cycle!
Summary: 5 Stars

Dr. Lao constituted one of the most striking artistic events in the middle Sixties. The unknown origin of this foreigner, proprietor of a circus that not only will be object of enrapturing visual fantasies, but besides will make the state of things in this isolated town experiments a sudden twist of change.

Far from being a delightful entertainment there are very smart subplots to explore. Tony Randall is simply admirable with his seven characterizations.

A must-see.

Movie Review: Wonderful memories
Summary: 5 Stars

As the large majority of reviewers have already stated, this is a very enjoyable movie (although not subtle about its message concerning greed/vices). I've watched this movie about 8 times in my life, the first time was on TV when I was about 11 years old (great memories). I own the DVD.

A simple 'people' movie, with many fine actors and a catchy theme tune. I never get tired of this movie's wisdom/humor.

Highly recommended as quality family entertainment!

Movie Review: Go buy your own.
Summary: 5 Stars

By today's high tech movie magic standards this movie is an antique... yet, it's one of the most fun movies I've ever seen. I was nine years old the first time I saw "Seven Faces Of Dr. Lao" at the theater and I've seen it several times on T.V. over the years and I've owned it twice before on DVD. Both of those copies I gave away to friends who'd never seen it before but fell in with it during their first viewing. The DVD version I just bought from Amazon... I'm keeping.

Movie Review: A Classic!
Summary: 5 Stars

I love this movie. It blends fantasy, a wee touch of horror and just enough romance into a fabulous tale that you will watch over and over. Whenever I'm depressed, I look at this DVD and I immediately feel 110% better. Tony Randall will surprise you; he is much more versatile in this movie than in anything else he's ever done.

The gentle wisdom and humor of this film make it appropriate for all from 8 to 80 (and beyond!). Buy it and you'll never regret the purchase.
