Movie Reviews of Sesame Street - Fiesta!

Movie Review: IT'S IN ENGLISH, BUT IT'S STILL GREAT!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a very fun Latin musical DVD! I bought it long time ago for my now-12-year-old niece. She enjoyed it immensely for years! . . .

We're Latinos living in the US and to reinforce the language we'd speak to our niece in Spanish only but didn't mind the fact that the DVD is mostly in English. The MUSIC is still GREAT! The SONGS are VERY CATCHY! The Sesame Street characters are LOVABLE, FUN and ENTERTAINING! The guests in it make it a "MUST HAVE" for any Latin culture lover, I think!

It is worth it!

I'm about to order the CD now but I already bought another copy of the DVD just recently, this time for my two- and four-year-old nieces and nephews. It's still a BIG HIT in our homes!

Now if I could only stop singing all those kids songs stuck in my head . . . Believe me, they are contagious!

Movie Review: Such a fun and upbeat movie!
Summary: 5 Stars

I am so surprised that some reviewers did not like this movie - my 18 month old son has loved it for several months! The music is really upbeat and happy and does not get annoying for me at all. My expectations to teach my toddler spanish from a movie are not very high so in that regard, I think it is fun and a great tiny introduction. I don't think the purpose is really to teach your child spanish as much as it just exposes them to something different and it does so in a great way. I also like that it is mostly muppets - my son isn't usually as intested in the people in Sesame Street movies- but this movie seems to balance it out well because the people tend more to be kids and he loves to watch other kids dance etc. I DEFINITELY recommend getting this as one of the top Sesame Street fun movies to watch and grab your child's interest.

Movie Review: for spanish, use plaza sesamo videos
Summary: 5 Stars

If you want to introduce your child to spanish, your best route is to use the plaza sesamo videos rather than sesame street. Plaza sesamo videos are the same prices and same characters as Sesame Street. Its basically, sesame street in 100% spanish and you can buy them here on amazon. Plaza sesamo is 100% spanish which a young child of a few months will need. A young child should not need a mix of both english and spanish on the same video. It has been said that the mixture will hinder them picking up a new language. Full immersion is better. My 16 month old now understands so much just from the plaza sesamo videos. I have 4 of the videos and she watches them daily. The fiesta video by Sesame Street introduces a few terms but not a good video if you a serious about them picking up the language.

Movie Review: Entertaining Intro to Spanish and Mexican Culture
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a great video to introduce your child to counting and speaking in Spanish, and to introduce some aspects of Mexican culture. I disagree with some of the other reviewers that said it should include more Spanish--it is for small children, after all. The basis of the storyline is that Maria, Gaby, Elmo, and Rosita are building a float for Carnivale. Elmo breaks the float, and tries to come up with another way to build it. It is interspersed with great clips from Sesame Street and catchy songs.

Movie Review: Sesame Street With a Salsa Beat
Summary: 5 Stars

Sesame Street has come through with an exciting music video with a latin beat. With performers such as Celia Cruz, and Linda Ronstadt, you know the music is going to be upbeat. Children get to learn to count in english and spanish (my two year old learned to count to five in spanish) They are also taught some spanish words, such as amigo, siesta, and fiesta. The performance is exciting, making both young and old want to dance, and more importantly, want to learn.
