Summary: 5 Stars
This adaptation of the Jane Austen Classic has proven itself worthy of her name. The screenplay, written by Emma Thompson, pays close attention to the heart of Jane Austen. The joys coupled with the many sorrows of these girls carry the viewers along on a heart-felt journey that captures the soul. The strength of Elinor Dashwood is something I, to this day, cannot apprehend. It is so moving, so challenging, the way she carries the burdens of everyone in her household upon her shoulders, to the point of forgetting(rather, neglecting) her own very pressing needs. Emma Thompson is brilliant and makes this movie a laudable classic fit to be applauded for generations to come.
