Movie Reviews of Send Me No Flowers

Movie Review: Funny Day time (recommended)
Summary: 4 Stars

While visiting the doctor, hypochondriac George (Rock Hudson) overhears another patient's grim diagnosis and, of course, assumes it applies to him. He feels vindicated for all prior obsessions while his next door neighbor Arnold (Tony Randall) responds by drinking himself silly. Making his "final" arrangements includes purchasing cemetery plots for himself, his wife Judy (Doris Day), and a future husband he feels obligated to select out of concern for his wife's happiness. The ensuing antics run the hilarious gambit of emotions from sympathy and pity to suspicion and jealousy.

Movie quote: "I'm innocent until proven guilty." "Look, you're dealing with your wife. You can forget the Constitution."

Movie Review: Doris and Rock's Final Big Screen Adventure
Summary: 4 Stars

Doris Day and Rock Hudson were the quintessential romantic team of the late fifties. They made three romance classics together. Tony Randall often was one or both's best friend.

In this film the two are married but his hypochondria threatens their marriage. Tony is the next door neighbor. The story is simple, they breakup but eventually find out they cannot live without each other.

Of their three films, this is definitely the weakest but if you are a fan of either Doris or Rock, then this is needed to complete their set.

There are some very funny scenes but not up to the quality of their first two.

Movie Review: Another great comedy from the Hudson-Day-Randall trio
Summary: 4 Stars

Following on from the success of Pillow Talk (1959) and Lover Come Back (1962), the stars teamed up for the last time in this amusing romantic comedy.

The set-up is slightly different this time: Day and Hudson are married; he's a hypochondriac who gets the wrong end of the stick and thinks he's only got a few weeks to live, and tries to make the best of the rest of his life without his wife finding out.

It's all pretty funny, and delightfully entertaining, excellently performed as you'd expect from the line-up. Some nice turns in the supporting cast, too.

Movie Review: Another Feel-Good Movie from Rock and Doris!
Summary: 4 Stars

This is the 3rd and final movie made by Hollywood's famous comedy-duo (Rock Hudson and Doris Day). Rock plays a hypochondriac. He misinterprets a conversation his doctor has and thinks he is a dying man. Hiding his shock-discovery from his wife (Doris Day) he starts his crusade to find her a replacement husband. More misunderstandings result with Doris leaving him as she believes he's hiding an affair.

This really is a zany, feel-good film, a total escape from reality featuring the equally cheery title theme song written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David.
