Movie Review: The BEST DVD Purchase I've Made in a LONG TIME!
Summary: 5 Stars
I only have about 30 minutes a day - I am a resident doctor and a mother of two young kids. This DVD gives me energy and packs a punch - cardio and sculpt all at once.
I can not say enough about the instructor, Ellen Barrett. She is the best instructor out there - really legit. Her cueing is perfect and she really wants you to get the best workout possible. The routine in this video is seamless, flowing from one exercise to the next.
But just one thing - I wish there we're more basic abdominal exercises. Lots of the ab work is standing, which is fun too, but on the mat would be nice too.
Bravo SELF Magazine. Job well done.
Movie Review: Excellent Pick

This was the first DVD of Self's that I have tried, although I've been a magazine subscriber for over five years. This video worked great for my legs/thighs, especially because that is the hardest spot for me to tone or see improvement while working out, and this one actually showed definition only SIX TIMES of doing the workout. Lots of arm movement and leg plies and combinations of upper and lower body. This has proven to be THE most valuable workout DVD of my 30-some exercise video collection! I love, love, love this workout. Ellen Barrett is a superb instructor. She is motivating, encouraging, well cued, without being annoying, irritating, and too perky. This is a 30 minute total body toning workout. There is no need for an exercise bench or chair. A set of cheap dumbbells would do. I am limited on workout space but this workout seems to fit my needs perfectly. The scenery and background is a lovely beach in Mexico. I find this workout not to hard but challenging enough for me to feel I've got a workout. I would definitely buy her other workout dvd's.Movie Review: Invigorating Workout

I bought Self's: "Bikini Ready Fast" along with "Slim and Sleek". I like both workout DVDs but my favorite is the "Bikini Ready Fast". The workout is designed very well- with warm-up and stretching exercises throughout. The best part is you really feel like your whole body is being toned (2 or 5 pound hand weights are used through 2/3 of the exercises). When you've finished this workout DVD you'll be sweating! I bought this DVD about three weeks ago and have been doing this workout every other day. Suprisingly, I haven't gotten tired of the workout or the instructor.Movie Review: Great Workout!

This was the first workout DVD that I ever used. I felt results the day after I first used it. It is a complete workout that you can cater to your needs. There is a modified workout which is great for beginners. Ellen is a great instructor. She isn't too bubbly. She has just the right amount of enery and enthusiasm to keep you motivated without being annoying.
I have since bought other DVDs that feature Ellen, but this is still my favorite! I highly recommend this for anyone who wants a low impact workout that gets results!
